They were painted in August 2019, in Purley Park, Lynwood, by local Aboriginal artist Justin Martin, who worked with students from year 4 and 5 from Bannister Creek Primary School (located next to the park), who drew an array of animals known to live along the banks of the local Canning River - turtles, dragon flies, frogs and egrets - and the final design incorporated these.

ReplyDeleteSince 2013, over 350 boxes have been hand-painted by local artists, or wrapped featuring designs by local graphic artists.
Wow, that is a great effort Jackie. I don't think we have that many, but the initiative started last year if I'm not mistaken.
