Every year since 2012, the Museum commissions an artist to paint the foyer wall, but even though the works are temporary, they give the artists a high visibility, as over a million people visit pass though the Museum doors annually.

Thanks, Sami.
On my last visit to Sydney in October 2018, another brighter mural was in the same spot.
Painted in 2017 by Pakistani born, Sydney resident artist Khadim Ali, it's called "The arrival of Demons".
Which one do you prefer?
...makes a bold statement.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom :)
DeleteWOW, so amazing. I like them both, but for different reasons. The tangle is so contemorary, which I like, but the other one is really much more colorful and unique. I suspect the Demons will win hands down!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. I prefer the Demons too :)
DeleteThe demons are wonderful. Much more expressive!
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae, the Demons are winning :)
DeleteDie Dämonen sind klasse ein sehr erwärmendes Bild.:)
ReplyDeleteNoke
I agree Noke, a much warmer mural. Thanks :)
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks R
DeleteOddly I like both.
ReplyDeleteThanks William.
DeleteWhile I know murals are temporary, it is a bit of a shame that the old one disappeared, but at least you took photos for us.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew, I was surprised to see a new mural there, but at least I got both :)
DeleteI'm sure temporary murals give artists a boost.
ReplyDeleteAs for the 'Arrival of Demons' I like the pic take from the bottom of the stairs, the most. :)
I suppose that's the idea, to show off different artists to the public. Thanks Dee
DeleteToda essa área é muito agradável.
ReplyDeletePassávamos horas aí quando estivemos em Sydney.
Beijos, boa semana
Obrigada Pedro. Sim uma area muito bonita.
DeleteSo sad they´re temporary! It´s a waste, especially the last one is very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Iris. I it's sad to see some murals disappear, but this way a lot more artists get their day in the sun :)
DeleteI love the demons, though they may have deterred some people from entering!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to rotate art in this way - just like street art
Thanks Debbie. A lot of artists get to show their murals :)
Deleteinteresting; demons are eye-catching, but the tangle sucks you in trying to untangle it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Klara :)
DeleteThese murals are quite impressive, I like them both. Being temporary is good for other artists to be recognized for their talent too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week Sami and thanks for hosting.
Thank you Bill, have a lovely week too :)
DeleteUm mural espectacular.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

Obrigada Francisco, boa semana para si tambem.
DeleteThey are quite spectacular and eye catching!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne :)
DeleteVery beautiful drawn.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stef.
DeleteDefinitely the second!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie. It's probably winning :)
DeleteCool art
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam.
DeleteWow! Between your finds and those of your readers, this is quite a collection! I like yours both - I think Tangle would make me dizzy after awhile - but in a good way. And the demons? Well, not really a fan of having those hanging around watching me, but the technical skill is amazing! I wish these could be painted on some sort of vinyl backed surface so they could be peeled off and used again somewhere else to spread the joy - and to preserve amazing work for a bit longer!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a great idea J, reusable art :)
DeleteThanks.
I like the "demons"! From the name you might think of it as a bit sinister but it's not.
ReplyDeleteNot really sinister :) Thanks Sharon.
DeleteVery nice! Hard to believe they are temporary.
ReplyDeleteIt seems a lot of work for just 1 year. Thanks Lois
DeleteProbably the first one for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat :)
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteThe first mural photo is far calmer than those fat-bellied demons!
Do they all have a beer-belly or what?
Thanks for showing their enormous proportion by photographing real people next to them.
Hugs,
Mariette
They are gigantic murals indeed.
DeleteThanks Mariette :)
🆗
DeleteGorgoeus art! Thank you for sharing! Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit. Have a lovely week too.
DeleteWow! The Arrival of Demons really is so vibrant and truly grabs my attention. Fantastic work! Hope you are well! Hugs...
ReplyDeleteVery vibrant colours certainly attracts the eye. Thanks R O.
DeleteI remember seeing these the last time we were in Sydney Sami, really nice ✨
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace.
DeleteI think both are remarkable but oddly enough, I, the realist, find myself loving the squiggly one most. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie.
DeleteImpressive :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan.
