Looking forward to your mural finds this week. Thanks, Sami.
My parents are celebrating their Diamond wedding anniversary (60th).
Sadly I couldn't be present to celebrate this special occasion with them in Portugal, but they are in my thoughts and heart.
I'm very proud of them for being such great role models in my life, teaching us family values, work ethic, kindness and respect for all.
I'm amazed that they are still very active people, who look much younger than they are and still participate in their community.
My Mom started a blog years in her late 60's, years before I started mine, she writes novels and poetry and has published a few books. She lectures at the 3rd Age University in Cascais, and my Dad is a keen photographer, has always been very artistic and also attends classes at the 3rd Age University. (The colour picture of my parents below has a black framed picture which was painted by my Dad).
They had 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren and are thrilled to be are around to see their
4 great-grandchildren.
They will be celebrating with family and friends with a lunch on the 18th.
Sixty years of happiness, love and loyalty to each other must not go unmarked.
We wish you many more years of love and good health together. Happy 60th anniversary!
July 2017, Portugal - the last time the whole family got together. Since then 2 more great-grandchildren have been born. |

ReplyDeleteThank you Kwarkito. Have a lovely week too.
DeleteI like murals that you publish...
ReplyDeleteThank you Igor.
DeleteCongratulations to your parents. So many years together is a major achievement. I imagine that few people think they will ever attain so many years of continuous relationship.
ReplyDeleteThanks David. I think nowadays it's becoming a rarity.
DeleteMarvelous! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Revrunner.
DeleteSuch a happy day for your mum and dad. Congratulations to them both!
ReplyDeleteAnd such a bright mural of the girl with green eyes.....and a great big heart!
Thank you Cathy :)
DeleteAlso on the day after our Mother's Day. Congratulations on their anniversary. I like the heart mural with the bug.
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrew.
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your dear Parents as this IS quite a milestone for being together!
I'm happy that I've made it to cross the Atlantic for Mom & Dad's 40th; 50th; 55th; 60th and 65th Wedding Anniversaries! Fond memories. We did a river cruise with dinner for their 60th as Mom was already on dialysis and not up to real dancing etc. at the usual venture. The 65th was an afternoon coffee/tea followed by a dinner and it ended around 22:00 as Mom could not last any longer than that. She did not live to see their 66th Anniversary...
Grandson Robbie is a good clone of your Dad! That proves again what we always have taught in biology, to look more at the 3rd generation for true comparison! It applies also to humans...
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
PS Sure do know how you feel as I've only been across the Atlantic for a few Birthdays and Mother's Days... There is a huge price tag to it; either in $$$ or emotional!
That's nice Mariette that you managed so many anniversaries together. In our family it's so difficult to get everyone together when we are spread all over the world.
DeleteSami, my family is also spread over 3 continents... U.S.A., Australia and Europe. ❤️
DeleteVery attractive mural. Very nicely done, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to your parents. Here's wishing them many, many more years of love and togetherness. :)
You have a great week. :)
Thank you Dee. Have a lovely week too.
DeleteOh, this is beautiful, Sami.
ReplyDeleteThe mural, certainly, but even more the story of your family!
Big, big congratulations from here.
It is truly wonderful to read such a story of a beautiful, active life, that hopefully will continue for a long while, too.
My MIL is still active in the garden and with the dog and also FIL is happy reading and cooking, but that sounds rather boring to what your parents are up to!
I´m happy for you xox
Thank you Iris. I think being busy keeps them moving and young :) I wish I could be like them in my 80's...
DeleteCongratulations, Sami. Two people, starting 60 years ago and now...
ReplyDeleteThank you Bertie :)
DeleteCongratulations with your parents, they still look wonderful!
DeleteThank you Marianne :)

ReplyDeleteObrigada Rob (thank you)
DeleteLove the mural, all my favourite colours. How amazing your parents are Sami, huge congratulations on the diamond anniversary.. I think it's because they are into so many projects that keeps them young, a wonderful example to us all 🎊🎉🎈✨
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace, I agree with you, keeping busy and having their minds occupied keeps them young.
DeleteThe mural is lovely. Congrats to your parents for their 60th Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill.

DeleteOh my, 60 years is a great milestone! Congratulations to the happy couple and may they keep spreading their joy over the whole family.
ReplyDeleteA great milestone indeed Sara. Thank you :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful love story you shared. I can tell that your parents are special people in your life. This is a wonderful post of them and their happy milestone. Family values are SO important.
ReplyDeleteI thought the mural was haunting and rather disturbing. Can't put my finger on it, maybe the eyes, but also the whole expression. Art is always in the eye of the beholder, though. I'm sure others felt different about it than I.
Thanks you Elizabeth, family is very special to me :)
DeleteI think it's the eyes, as even though it's so colourful the eyes are too wide apart giving the girl a strange expression. As you say we can't all like the same thing.
Congrats.
