As I'd mentioned before, our daughter Karina came from the Philippines over Easter, to spend 10 days with us.
On Monday 29th April, we both went to the movies to watch - "Swimming with Men", a British feel good movie inspired by a true story. We really enjoyed it!
These signs were printed on the popcorn boxes, I thought they were hilarious 😁.
On Tuesday 30th, Karina and I had dinner at Riverton Bar and Grill, next to my local shopping, and we had a laugh at the sign outside the entrance.
I wonder if Ugg boots are as popular in your countries as they are in Australia? It always amazes me to see young ladies wearing Ugg boots with shorts! Aren't they meant to keep your feet warm?
Karina flew out at 2am this Wednesday, so I had to drop her at the Airport at 11pm, but luckily I only worked the pm shift from 1 o'clock, so I had a sleep in this morning.

Funny signs.
DeleteI love the cremation one. I laughed out loud.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Sami. ♥
It is super funny Sandee :)
DeleteThat cremation one is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly I don't like popcorn.
Thanks William, a funny one indeed. You're missing out on an addictive thing :)
DeleteThose popcorn box signs were HILARIOUS. Still laughing.
ReplyDeleteI had NO idea what an Ugg boot was, so went to the internet. They sell a LOT of different styles. I don't think I would ever wear them and not with shorts. But at least now I know what Ugg boots look like (grin)!!!
I like my warm slippers in winter (at home), but I don't think I would wear Ugg boots indoor or outdoors either.
DeleteThe signs were funny, I had a good laugh too.
What great funny signs on the popcorn boxes. I love the cremation one. :)
ReplyDeleteI love popcorn, it's addicting. :)
Thanks Bill, very addictive! I only buy when going at the movies.
DeleteThat is funny about the cremation. Our major ugg boot shop closed down and I haven't seen anyone wearing them for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew. They are probably a bit out of fashion maybe, haven't seen as many young women wearing them :)
DeleteLove the signs Sami and thanks so much for the preview from the film, I hadn't heard of it but definitely now want to see it, looks so good!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace. The film was funny and uplifting.
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteLovely for having had your daughter for ten (short !) days.
Oh, those signs are indeed hilarious and I guess there also is a spelling error: unclean or untidy 'foorwear'...
Yes, anyone wearing boots in the warmer season looks very odd to me! It's just not done...
That movie must have been hilarious to watch!
Hugs,
Mariette
I missed that spelling error!
DeleteThanks Mariette. I agree, very odd to wear boots in summer.
Delete👢
DeleteOs das pipocas são um must!!! :)))
ReplyDeleteSao engracadissimos Pedro :)
DeleteGreat.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim.
DeleteThose signs sure are hilarious and made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteUgg boots! You may not believe it but some wear these ugly things here and think they are super-cool...
Sad that Karina had to leave already, time flies!
Oh, that sounds like a fun movie, those are real men!
And oh, that British accent!!! :-)
They were funny, had a good laugh too :)
DeleteA fun movie, I had no idea there was a Synchronized swimming Men's team.
Muito interessante.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.

Obrigada Francisco.
DeleteIs there anything left to wear after you get through the Riverton list?
ReplyDeleteNot much apparently Joan :)
DeleteYes those Uggs boots are supposed for warm feet I think too.
ReplyDeleteYes they should warm up your feet in winter, not in summer, like they use here :)
DeleteUgg boots with short shorts were a "thing" on the campus at University of California in Santa Barbara in 2003. I was also confused, but a neighbor explained to me that it was a surfer habit to warm up your feet after the cold Pacific waves had chilled them -- I think this started with Australian surfers, as Uggs is an Australian company. I think it was really about looking cool, but whatever.
ReplyDeleteUggs fads seem to come and go sort of the way that skirt lengths used to move up and down (or maybe still do?) A few years ago, my granddaughters really wanted them, and wore them a lot, but now they have moved on. That's all I know about Uggs.
Surprising that a cremation joke can be so funny and not in particularly bad taste!
best... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I agree, the Ugg boots were quite fashionable years ago, although I still see young girls wearing them, but not in great numbers.
DeleteThe jokes were funny, thanks Mae.
I love the one about the epic cremation! And I wonder what the "special occasions" might bring out!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie, the cremation joke is fabulous. I too wonder what would be allowed on special occasions :)
DeleteUgg boots were very popular a few years back, although I've never worn a pair!
ReplyDeleteSo nice that you spent time with Karina.
All the best Jan
I've never had a pair either Jan :)
DeleteFunny signs! I like how Ugg boots are among the forbidden dress code items. They were a thing a few years ago, but I haven't seen them around for a while. Good, I say!
ReplyDeleteI agree, a good idea to ban them :) Thanks Sara
