Monday Mural - A splash of colour III

In the neighbouring suburb of Lynwood, I found another set of painted electrical boxes, part of the Water Corporation project to beautify their boxes - Splash of colour WA.

They were painted in August 2019, in Purley Park, Lynwood, by local Aboriginal artist Justin Martin, who worked with students from year 4 and 5 from Bannister Creek Primary School (located next to the park), who drew an array of animals known to live along the banks of the local Canning River - turtles, dragon flies, frogs and egrets - and the final design incorporated these.

And here you can watch a Youtube video of the artist painting the electrical boxes.

  12. The Toronto Outside the Box program has been cancelled for 2020 due to the pandemic.
Since 2013, over 350 boxes have been hand-painted by local artists, or wrapped featuring designs by local graphic artists.

    1. Wow, that is a great effort Jackie. I don't think we have that many, but the initiative started last year if I'm not mistaken.
