35 years ago on Nov 30th

Today we celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We got married in Johannesburg, South Africa.
We met 1 year before that when we both worked part-time in the function rooms at the Carlton Hotel in the city centre, me as a waitress and Jose as a barman.

The reception was held in a hired hall at the Italian Club in Bedfordview. My Mother baked and iced the wedding cake, as well as co-ordinated the lunch which was cooked by hired cooking staff.

And now here on our late 50's  living in Australia, 2 grown up children who have also followed their hearts...
It doesn't feel as if it's been 35 years for sure! Time just flies!!

With my parents at home
L to R -  Jose's Godparents, Jose's brother and sister in law, the bridal couple and my Parents

The best men and Bridesmaids (the two girls to the right - sitting and standing, are my sisters)

My Mother, brother in law, sister, us, my Dad and my younger sister

Tonight, we had a lovely dinner at Mosman's Restaurant, which is right on the river. Pity it was already getting dark by the time we arrived.
We managed to get a lady that was walking her dog to take some photos of us.
I had forgotten my camera (very unlike me!!) so mobile phone had to do!

My husband and I in the middle and daughter in law and son on the sides.

    1. Thanks Marianne. He was very tired, was writing exams until the day before the wedding. Of course the photographer was a friend, not the normal wedding photographers of nowadays where the photos look stunning!

    1. Thanks Grace. We had the sea food platter, it was wonderful! And the desserts were divine too. Do you mean my middle sister? She still looks the same. But I think my younger sister and I look more alike, since we are both dark haired while my middle sister is blonde.

  6. I came by to leave a comment on one you left me, then saw I had missed your 35th wedding anniversary. You are still that beautiful bride you were back then. I really enjoyed this trip down memory lane, and all the wonderful photos you shared with us. I can't get over the hair styles, though. Seems they are still appropriate today.

You said something about eggnog being hot. No, it's always kept cold once it's been made. The main ingredient is milk and/or half and half, so it has to be treated the same as you would milk. I realize you can cook with it, but it is drunk cold.

    Again, happy belated anniversary.

    1. Thanks for the lovely comments Elizabeth. I guess the hairstyles are quite contemporary.
I was under the impression eggnog was hot as it's typical for the northern hemisphere Christmas. I really need to look up a recipe and make it then, if it's meant to be drunk cold!
