In Austin Lane, Darwin - in the building just across the car park, from last week's Gurrumul's mural are two other huge murals, both 29mt x 12mt (95x39 ft).
Painted in 2018 for the Darwin Street Art Festival, by Peter Seaton "CTO", a Melbourne based artist, the mural entitled "Multidimensional Man" is a portrait of Hilton Garnarradj an Aboriginal guide from Arnhem Land.
Info from the net: "The artist is posing the question here that the Aboriginal societies and their understanding and way of living is a more multi-dimensional understanding of our connection to the earth, water, skies and beyond".
Painted on the wall next to Multidimensional man for the 2019 Darwin Street Art Festival, by Brisbane based artist Russell Orrie Fenn aka "Sofles", is the Interdimensional Space Crab.
These are both so very different, but I was amazed that they are both tied together by their colors. It's a great way to add a bit of color to the side of these very tall and impressive apartments.
ReplyDeleteIt was very clever of the second artist to tie the mural to the other by using the same colours. Thanks Elizabeth :)
DeleteRemarkable murals. The size is amazing. I always wonder how the artists manage to create such large images without distortion.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting Monday Murals!
best... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I have no idea how they draw such huge murals, they are certainly great artists Mae :)
DeleteThese are really fabulous murals, the very best of mural art it seems to me. I am always glad to see what you bring us, Sami, but these are really special.
ReplyDeleteThanks David, I was amazed at the standard of murals I found in Darwin!
DeleteI like both of these, many thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ahead.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan.
DeleteVery nicely painted, I can see the connection as to why they painted the 2 together
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy :)
Delete...the artist was very effective with these murals. Thanks Sami for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom :)
DeleteImpressive!
ReplyDeleteThanks William :)
DeleteThese are two impressive murals beautifully done. I really like the graphic complexity of the crab and the use of the same colors as the adjacent painting.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice that tied the murals with the same colours. Thanks Kwarkito
DeleteBoth are very good and the crab is so detailed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew :)
DeleteLove both of the murals… huge and very detailed!
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa :)
DeleteGreat ones. And so huge (again) - always wonder where such talent comes from, one could (!) get jealous, but is certainly thankful some at least have it ;-)
ReplyDeleteI know, it must be so hard to paint such huge murals.
DeleteThanks Iris :)

Obrigada Francisco, boa semana.
DeleteBeautiful executed murals.
ReplyDeleteThanks SC.
DeleteSorry, couldn't find a real mural today...
ReplyDeleteNo problem Marianne, anything colourful will do :)
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteThe Aboriginal man is done so very well, especially proportional.
But the artist's statement is not a valid one.
Sure the Aboriginal people had a far better connection to the earth, water and skies as they lived off hunting and fishing. They worshiped it too. But that does not replace the education needed for developing a modern world! It only is a political correct statement by the artist for wanting to be more popular. No need for that since he is already EXCELLENT and that's what all people will recognize!
Hugs,
Mariette
Thanks Mariette :)

DeleteGosh the work that has gone into these! I saw someone advertising to come and paint street art at your home, how cool would that be if one could ever find a space big enough!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week Sammy

I wouldn't mind a mural painted on my backyard fences. These are fantastic, thanks Wren, hope all going well with you in Thailand.
