I love murals and street art. Looking forward to your mural finds this week.  Thanks, Sami.

In Austin LaneDarwin -  in the building just across the car park, from last week's Gurrumul's mural are two other huge murals, both 29mt x 12mt (95x39 ft).

Painted in 2018 for the Darwin Street Art Festival, by Peter Seaton "CTO", a Melbourne based artist, the mural entitled "Multidimensional Man" is a portrait of Hilton Garnarradj an Aboriginal guide from Arnhem Land.

Info from the net: "The artist is posing the question here that the Aboriginal societies and their understanding and way of living is a more multi-dimensional understanding of our connection to the earth, water, skies and beyond".

Painted on the wall next to Multidimensional man for the 2019 Darwin Street Art Festival, by Brisbane based artist Russell Orrie Fenn aka "Sofles", is the Interdimensional Space Crab.

Even though they were painted a year apart, you will notice that the mud crab has been painted using the same tones as the Aboriginal man.

  1. These are both so very different, but I was amazed that they are both tied together by their colors. It's a great way to add a bit of color to the side of these very tall and impressive apartments.

    1. It was very clever of the second artist to tie the mural to the other by using the same colours. Thanks Elizabeth :)

  2. Remarkable murals. The size is amazing. I always wonder how the artists manage to create such large images without distortion.

Thank you for hosting Monday Murals!

  5. Very nicely painted, I can see the connection as to why they painted the 2 together

  7. These are two impressive murals beautifully done. I really like the graphic complexity of the crab and the use of the same colors as the adjacent painting.

  17. Dearest Sami,
The Aboriginal man is done so very well, especially proportional.
But the artist's statement is not a valid one.
Sure the Aboriginal people had a far better connection to the earth, water and skies as they lived off hunting and fishing. They worshiped it too. But that does not replace the education needed for developing a modern world! It only is a political correct statement by the artist for wanting to be more popular. No need for that since he is already EXCELLENT and that's what all people will recognize!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  20. Gosh the work that has gone into these! I saw someone advertising to come and paint street art at your home, how cool would that be if one could ever find a space big enough!
    Have a lovely week Sammy
