Monday Mural - Volunteering is what we do

I love murals and street art. If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you.  Just follow the Linky steps below.  Once you start looking you will find murals everywhere.  The "Monday Mural" meme goes live on Monday at 12,01AM, Perth,Western Australian time. Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters. Looking forward to your mural finds this week.  Thanks, Sami.

In the July Wrap-up I mentioned that on the 18th July we had visited Point Walter Reserve, in the suburb of Bicton. On arrival I discovered a new mural had been painted on the toilet blocks.

Couldn't find the name of the artist, but I loved the bright colours!

It could have been painted for or by the Melville Volunteer Resource Centre.

Further down the walking path this wall has 12 plaques depicting various activities that can be done in the area.

Point Walter is the site of various cultural monuments, including a war memorial avenue.

The park is also used by the general public for a variety of activities including kitesurfingkayakingcanoeingwindsurfingfishing, swimming, and picnicking. The area contains two shaded playgrounds, cycle and walking paths, a jetty, a boat ramp and barbecue areas. There's also a cafe and a golf course.

This all makes this park a very popular destination for families the year around, but specially in Summer.

  1. Volunteering is extremely important. I am well aware of that myself, since I am a volunteer in my neighborhood association. Not only are the murals beautiful, so are the mosaics. So well done. These are great. Now I'm off to see your July wrap-up, which I've missed due to my ear pain.

    1. I plan to volunteer when I retire, right now sadly I don't have much time. Australians are great volunteers.
Hope you are feeling better from your earache Elizabeth.

  16. Not only are your murals very attractive, Sami, they don't seem to get defaced with the graffiti that is all too prevalent in major European cities. You have shown us a very attractive face of Australia. On the downside, I recently read a report on climate change, which predicts that the mean summer temperatures in Western Australia will routinely be in the forties by 2050, a mere twenty-eight and a half years away, and that insufficient water and prolonged droughts will become the norm. It would seem to me that would make the region uninhabitable. We could give master classes on ways to screw the planet, couldn't we?

    1. Thanks David. We were just listening to a report on climate change on tv tonight and heard the same. It's scary indeed! Governments all over the world need to do better, and impose some limits.

    2. And we need to stop electing and re-electing the idiots who we know won't take action.

  19. Those mosiacs are great! We have some wonderful art on our toilet blocks - will have to send you some photos. Since I retired almost two years ago I have been volunteering at our church op shop a couple of days a week. It is great to have some structure in your days, and you get to hang around nice people!
