Thanks, Sami.
In the July Wrap-up I mentioned that on the 18th July we had visited Point Walter Reserve, in the suburb of Bicton. On arrival I discovered a new mural had been painted on the toilet blocks.
Couldn't find the name of the artist, but I loved the bright colours!
It could have been painted for or by the Melville Volunteer Resource Centre.
Point Walter is the site of various cultural monuments, including a war memorial avenue.
The park is also used by the general public for a variety of activities including kitesurfing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, fishing, swimming, and picnicking. The area contains two shaded playgrounds, cycle and walking paths, a jetty, a boat ramp and barbecue areas. There's also a cafe and a golf course.
This all makes this park a very popular destination for families the year around, but specially in Summer.
Volunteering is extremely important. I am well aware of that myself, since I am a volunteer in my neighborhood association. Not only are the murals beautiful, so are the mosaics. So well done. These are great. Now I'm off to see your July wrap-up, which I've missed due to my ear pain.
ReplyDeleteI plan to volunteer when I retire, right now sadly I don't have much time. Australians are great volunteers.
DeleteHope you are feeling better from your earache Elizabeth.
...the Melville Volunteer Resource Centre murals sure colorful and whimsical. The Point Walter mosaic murals are a treat. Thanks for hosting Sami.

ReplyDeleteThe roof is quite unusual. Thanks Andrew.
DeleteI used to volunteer myself in the nearby Salvos before this pandemic. I am hoping to go back after all these. Wonderful bright colours of your murals, Sami!
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa. Well done for volunteering, something I would like to do once I retire.
DeleteE o que podia ser um espaço feio, uma casa de banho, ficou embelezado.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
Realmente fica totalmente um espaco moderno. Obrigada Pedro

ReplyDeleteIt sure is an attention grabber and I LOVE that first plaque you show.
Hugs,
Mariette
Thank you Mariette. What a pity I didn't take photos of all of them, they are quite pretty.

ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie, they are very pretty.
DeleteThat is a great diversity of murals you showed us!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne :)
DeleteThose mosaic plaques are also very nice.
ReplyDeleteYes they are SC.
DeleteNot only are your murals very attractive, Sami, they don't seem to get defaced with the graffiti that is all too prevalent in major European cities. You have shown us a very attractive face of Australia. On the downside, I recently read a report on climate change, which predicts that the mean summer temperatures in Western Australia will routinely be in the forties by 2050, a mere twenty-eight and a half years away, and that insufficient water and prolonged droughts will become the norm. It would seem to me that would make the region uninhabitable. We could give master classes on ways to screw the planet, couldn't we?
ReplyDeleteThanks David. We were just listening to a report on climate change on tv tonight and heard the same. It's scary indeed! Governments all over the world need to do better, and impose some limits.
DeleteAnd we need to stop electing and re-electing the idiots who we know won't take action.
DeleteThe art makes such a difference in the area. Really nice.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does Pat, that building is 100 times better!
DeleteLooks like someone may be looking for some volunteers. :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe that was the purpose of the mural. Thanks Revrunner :)
DeleteThose mosiacs are great! We have some wonderful art on our toilet blocks - will have to send you some photos. Since I retired almost two years ago I have been volunteering at our church op shop a couple of days a week. It is great to have some structure in your days, and you get to hang around nice people!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) Nice of you to volunteer, I would love to do that once I retire, as it's a way to get out of the house, to meet new people and to help the community.
DeleteSo cheerful!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteThose mosaics are special and the colorful murals are pleasing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda :)
DeleteWhat a delightful discovery Sami, the colours are so pretty, the messages so positive 💜
