Signs - Love locks in East Perth

For other signs from around the world please go over to Tom's blog.
In the inner city suburb of East Perth, there is a small bridge over Claisebrook Cove where you can place your "love locks" just as it was popular in bridges in Paris and other European cities...

In the park there is a bike repair centre, which can be handy for all those cycling around that beautiful area of Perth.

The Peace Grove monument in honour of Mohamed Anwar el Sadat  (Egyptian President) and Yitzhak  Rabin (Israel's Prime Minister), both winners of the Nobel Prize for Peace.

Last week we went to East Perth at night to see some of the Christmas lights, part of Perth's Christmas Lights trail, and the area is just as magical during the evening.
It's one of my favourite places in Perth, wish I had the bucks to afford it 🥰.

  1. Our love-lock still sits quietly on the shelf.
So glad they have those bike-repair things (I walk now, though).
Yes, peace is what we need and what a wonderful last pic! Full of hope for a better year to come...

  3. Wouldn't you know. After getting THREE errors, I can now leave comments. I said before that I really loved seeing the photos of the Love Locks and the Peace Monument. Your city is beautiful at night, too. I was quite impressed with the bike repair station because it's such a good idea. We in Wichita should supply those, since we are known for our cycling.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. That was actually the first bike repair station I saw in Perth, but then I don't cycle either.

  4. ...I've seen several of these love locks on blogs, but we don't seem to have them here. The bike repair station is new to me too. Every place needs a peace grove! Thanks Sami for sharing the lovely lights and reflections.

  6. Nice peace grove, we all could use some peace. The love locks we don't see them here and a bike repair station is always good to have near where people cycle.
Have a happy and healthy 2021, Sami.

  7. Dearest Sami,
So, things start looking normal again as I'm almost caught up after having been amputated from Internet for 5 full days.
Love this post and even though it is hard to understand the function of such love locks, it looks special and creates a big draw to a certain area.
The PEACE GROVE is a neat idea and things look well kept and respected.
Sending you hugs for the year's ending and wishing you a Happy New Year.

    1. Thanks Mariette. Sorry you have been disconnected for 5 days, it's hard when we rely so much on the internet for our day to day.
The love locks was a trendy thing a few years ago, not sure it's as popular now. Wishing you and Pieter a wonderful and healthy 2021.

  8. When I was a teen in school, there was a church nearby with a tiny gated courtyard that was (in those days) left unlocked. I proposed to buy a sturdy lock and give them the second key if I might park my motorbike inside! I was wonderful having my own key to a tiny bit of my city!

    1. What a wonderful trade-off Cloudia, you could almost say you owned that small courtyard :) Happy New Year.

  10. Ah, Sami, you didn't tell us if you left a love lock! I wonder if anyone ever thinks it's a lock of hair they should leave and gets busy with the scissors!

    1. No such thing for me, lol. Locks of hair would be a better idea :)
      Happy New Year David.

  11. Loved to see a bit more of that beautiful country of yours.
Those metal locks look good, no doubt, but they cause so much damage...
    Happy New Year!
    : )

    1. Thanks Catarina. From what happened in Paris I know those locks can be damaging. Here they are only allowed in an area still on land and not over the river, so hopefully that won't be as damaging.
      Happy New Year!

  14. I can remember Love Locks at Elizabeth Quay, which I think have now been removed. Just a few years ago we saw Love Locks all over Europe. Authorities were busily removing them before their weight caused bridge collapses.

    1. I think they still have them just outside the Bell Tower Andrew. There were special railings built for them and they used to sell and engrave them for $35 a while back. At least they won't bring down a bridge...

  15. I hate those locks, they damages the old bridges in Amsterdam with this stupid outings of love they have once seen in a movie!

  16. I really do hate those locks. I don't know who came up with the idea but it's a burden everywhere now. I love the views from beautiful Perth! Have a very happy new year.

  18. What a good idea, allowing the locks but making sure they are in a place where it won't damage the bridges or hurt anything.
