Picasso said "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life", and on the lids of the Fusion mineral paint that I use to upcycle furniture, you can see the words "Paint is good for the soul" and "a pot of inspiration".
I've always been crafty, and I can attest that if I feel stressed the best cure is to go and paint.
It has been proved that art relieves stress, encourages creative thinking, increases brain plasticity and brings other mental health benefits, as it reduces cortisol, the "stress hormone" and releases endorphins, the feel good chemicals that combat stress and reduce pain.

I've just finished painting two old kid stools I bought second-hand, and they will be given to my grandchildren at Christmas.
It is very true.
ReplyDeleteI like your header!!
Thanks Catarina. It's a photo taken on a beach in the south of western Australia.
DeleteThe chairs are lovely!!! I wish I could paint like that!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Just something simple for the kids.
DeleteYour artwork on the stools is quite good and I like the cleverness of the saying on the paint tins. I really wish I had been more arty in my life.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew 😊
DeleteI think that what relives stress is different for all of us, and depends to some degree on time and circumstance, but for me a walk in the woods is about as stress-abating as it gets.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a walk in the woods or even by the sea can be just as relaxing and stress relieving as painting. I probably just enjoy painting more 😊. Thanks David
DeleteWell done, they look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne 😊
DeleteLooks indeed very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks S.C.
DeleteOMG - those look totally adorable! You are so talented! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThanks RO 😊
DeleteI agree that stress can be invigorating or cause all the problems in the world. These pot lids are amazing and very clever of you to use them for this challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth, clever use of those words on the lids.
DeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteWell, focussing and concentrating on any craft for that matter keeps your mind positively occupied! It is the best therapy and enhances the balance of healthy body and mind.
Your kid stools came out perfect and will be cherished without any doubt.
Hugs,
Mariette
Thank you Mariette, I think they will like them :)

ReplyDeleteObrigada Pedro, uma boa memoria duma visita com a familia a terras a sul de Perth.
DeleteWise words and great work, I feel like starting on... paper.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Iris, you should do some art, you are so talented with your drawings :)
DeleteI absolutely agree Sami, although I'm not much of an artist I get so much pleasure out of looking at their work 💜
ReplyDeleteP.s. can you believe Dave and family have just touched down in Perth a few hours before they would have had to isolate for two weeks, so close!
Hi Grace, just heard the news and was thinking about you and wondering how it would work out if they were arriving from midnight. So lucky! Enjoy their visit and have a wonderful Christmas xxx
DeleteI expect they will quickly become their favorite chairs. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope so Mark :)
DeleteWhat a perfect gift!
