Signs - Paint is good for the soul

Picasso said "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life", and on the lids of the Fusion mineral paint that I use to upcycle furniture, you can see the words "Paint is good for the soul" and "a pot of inspiration".

I've always been crafty, and I can attest that if I feel stressed the best cure is to go and paint.
It has been proved that art relieves stress, encourages creative thinking, increases brain plasticity and brings other mental health benefits, as it reduces cortisol, the "stress hormone" and releases endorphins, the feel good chemicals that combat stress and reduce pain.

For other signs from around the world follow this link to Tom's blog.

I've just finished painting two old kid stools I bought second-hand, and they will be given to my grandchildren at Christmas.

  5. I think that what relives stress is different for all of us, and depends to some degree on time and circumstance, but for me a walk in the woods is about as stress-abating as it gets.

    1. I'm sure a walk in the woods or even by the sea can be just as relaxing and stress relieving as painting. I probably just enjoy painting more 😊. Thanks David

  7. I agree that stress can be invigorating or cause all the problems in the world. These pot lids are amazing and very clever of you to use them for this challenge.

  8. Dearest Sami,
Well, focussing and concentrating on any craft for that matter keeps your mind positively occupied! It is the best therapy and enhances the balance of healthy body and mind.
Your kid stools came out perfect and will be cherished without any doubt.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  14. I absolutely agree Sami, although I'm not much of an artist I get so much pleasure out of looking at their work 💜
P.s. can you believe Dave and family have just touched down in Perth a few hours before they would have had to isolate for two weeks, so close!
