I used to see the Mother or Father dove sitting on the nest before but had no idea the babies had been born.
This is probably the 4th or 5th time the doves have nested in the same nest.

Just about a week later they had flown the nest and they are now the most recent visitors to my bird feeder.
It's quite amusing to see that whenever I go and put seeds in the feeder, I'm still busy there when the two small doves suddenly appear and wait on the back fence just a metre away.
As soon as I turn my back they first fly to one of the branches of the tree and then hop onto the feeder.

Friday afternoon Jose and I went to visit some friends who live in the nearby Air Force Retirement Village. They have a beautiful garden with plenty of fruit trees, vegetables and flowers.
They gave us a basket full of plants for our garden and some avocados from their trees.
When we were sitting inside having tea and cake I spotted a couple of ducks just outside their front porch.
Apparently their neighbour feeds them, so they pop around every afternoon 😉. Very cute.
Have a wonderful weekend wherever you are in the world.
Ours will be cold and wet.
We've had warmer days, but the last couple of days the temperature has dropped, and the rain has been heavy. As I write this post the rain is pelting on the windows due to the high winds.
Today we had 8C min. and 17C max. (46F & 63F), but it will drop tomorrow to 5C min. and 15 max. (41 to 59F).
Luckily from Monday the sun is back full time and the temperatures go up again.
Just two weeks to go until the official start of Spring, can't wait...
You are anxious for spring and I'm not looking forward to fall... I want summer to be longer...
ReplyDeleteYou see lots of birds on a daily basis!
Have a great week.
Yes, half the world in Summer, the other half in winter...
DeleteWe do get a few birds visiting our garden.
You are looking at spring and we are looking at fall. I'm ready. It's been so hot.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and weekend. ♥
I don't mind Autumn/Fall but not a winter person at all.
DeleteThanks Sandee, have a lovely weekend.
Doves here are rather... "not welcomed", but ducks, yips!
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have those friends :-)
Oh, yes, heavy rain here, too, no TV due to it (but I love the rain). I´m wishing you a happy weekend despite the cold temps (no summer here, really, either).
Somehow I thought I had replied, and now saw nothing here...
DeleteLuckily yesterday and today the days have been warmer, a bit more rain Thursday and Friday. You know the friends that give us the plants, their garden is looking spectacular as usual.
The doves are nice to see, and so are the ducks.
ReplyDeleteSun here today, but supposedly we're in for stormy weather. We shall see.
Thanks William, hope the storm wasn't too bad.
DeleteNice birds
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam.
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteWow, to have doves nesting in your own citrus trees is quite a lovely sight!
And then having them visit your feeder, they must feel at home with you both.
Ducks can become quite tame, we had them for years, flying to our pond and we fed them too.
But suddenly they quit coming...
Hugs and happy weekend; stay cozy and warm.
Mariette
The doves obviously enjoy the breakfast and dinner service of our hotel :)
DeleteWhat a pity your ducks stopped coming, they are so cute.
Have a lovely week.
💛
DeleteYou got some amazing photos, Sami. The baby dove shots were priceless. Loved seeing your late winter photos and how different your winters are than mine.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. We are certainly lucky with our winters, very mild compared to winters in many countries. Even though it can snow in parts of Australia, in Perth we don't see snow and day temperatures are always mild in winter.
DeleteJust hatched birds are never attractive. It must have been interesting to watch the process. Great fun to have ducks visit for a feed and then waddle off.
ReplyDeleteI agree Andrew, featherless birds are usually quite ugly.
DeleteTo have them so close by and see the young ones from your window is amazing!
ReplyDeleteYes it's great to have birds visiting our garden. Thanks Mariette
DeleteHello Sami, the Baby doves are so sweet. It is nice to see them at the feeders. Here the doves stay on the ground. The ducks are great yard birds. Our fall is about to start and cooler weather on the way. Great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your day and weekend! PS, thank so much for your visit and comment.
ReplyDeleteI find doves aren't very clever birds, but they are sweet. The young ones above tend to walk around in our patio during the day. Luckily for them the cats are usually asleep indoors if it's cold, otherwise they also like to go into the back garden and I worry they might catch them.
DeleteWhat a wonderful treat to find the baby doves....here in Tasmania, we are bracing for another cold front on Monday but like you say...Spring is not far away!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit Catch. Your area is even colder than ours.
DeleteThe doves must feel really safe to keep coming back Sami, the babies are adorable. Brrrrrr it really is chilly at the moment.. I love it 😉
ReplyDeleteThe little doves take far too many chances with the cats around. Just this morning they were both walking around on the grassed area by the patio. I had to shoo them to go up to the trees or fence. Oh no, I'm so eager for Spring to start Grace.
DeleteHi Sami!
ReplyDeleteI am a journalist from Brazil and met your blog by chance and really enjoyed it.
I will follow you here to follow the news.
Kisses!
Douglas
Obrigada Douglas :)
DeleteIncredible pictures of the doves!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda.
DeleteHow wonderful having little birds nest in your tree. I got very excited on the rare occasions I have spotted a nest.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan Elizabeth, I find it exciting to find nests too.
DeleteWow! You took such great pics of the birds in your tree. Feel free to send some of the cold this way, please.(lol) Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThanks RO, gladly send some cold :)
Delete...hold in there, spring will be coming soon.
ReplyDeleteCounting the days Tom...
DeleteWow! Those baby doves are awesome and so glad they come to your feeder ~ what do they like for seeds? Wonderful nature photography post.
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to You,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Hi Carol, they aren't fussy, I buy a box of seeds for small birds at the supermarket and they eat them all :)
DeleteThe young doves are pretty. It must be amazing to see them at your feeder. They know where the good seeds are. :) Those ducks are smart too making a personal visit to your friend's house for a snack.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day, Sami.
The doves know already know where the restaurant is :) The ducks are very smart indeed. Thanks Bill
DeleteSuch lovely photographs …
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great new week with better weather :)
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, today we had a great day, much warmer.
DeleteWow - those Doves were literally brand new when you first saw them, how wonderful that they still return for dinner every day! Those ducks are rather cute as well!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week, Sami
Wren
Thanks Wren. The doves are still very young and a bit foolish. They keep on walking on our deck, hope the cats don't catch them. The ducks are very cute.
Deletei love entertaining baby birds and how nice to see them at your feeders now!! it is so hot and humid here right now, i can't even go outside!!
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy the birds in our garden. Luckily we don't have a humid Summer in Perth. Thanks for your visit Debbie.
DeleteWhat a beautiful garden and what charming visitors you have! Don't you just love the birds?!
