2016 Sculpture by the Sea - more favourites II

I've shown you my favourites in this post, but with over 70 works of art, every one will have a different favourite, so here I'm showing you 6 more sculptures.

Reviewing at some of these now I think I would have to include them in my favourite list as well...

Let me know which one you liked best.

"Memories of the Ocean", by Perth ceramist Andrea Vinkovic is a pretty and feminine piece made in ceramic, inspired by sea plankton.

"Noah's Arc", by New South Wales artist Deborah Redwood, another feminine lacy sculpture made using various  bits and pieces of metal as can be seen in the close-up.

Peruvian artist Karen Macher Nesta, presented "Sea Sponges", made with a metal tubing structure covered in white plastic rope and cable ties. Feels very beachy and would look pretty in a garden too.

"Bubble" from New South Wales duo Pamela Lee Brenner and Johannes Muljana, is made up with soda bottles shaped like flowers.
I noticed that even the solar lights that would light it up at night had been fitted with the same flowers. Another pretty idea for a garden.

Another West Australian artist, Norton Flavel (the same artist that presented super big sculptures "Lucky Country" in 2015 and "Bulk Carrier" in 2014,  this year he has this huge closed hand through which sand is dropping, called "Dust".

Lithuanian/American Zilvinas Kempinas  presents us with "Kakashi (2012)" a big round structure made with wooden poles and a lot of colourful tape.

  1. Dearest Sami,
Love that concept for the beach area and for me the most fascinating is that hand with DUST.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Thank you Mariette. It's wonderful to have that great outdoor art gallery. I think so many more people go to this type of event than to an art gallery.

  3. They´re all great pieces, but I think I like especially the Kakashi as it looks so different from various perspectives. Must be fun to walk underneath.

  4. Great exhibition again! It makes it very difficult to choose my favourite. Maybe the sea sponges or Noah's arc, just because I like pieces made of iron.

    1. Thanks Sara, I also like the metal sculptures and Noah's arc would look good in a garden.
