Signs - Strawberry picking

Strawberry season is in full swing, and it reminded me when I went strawberry picking with some friends, exactly two years ago in a berry farm just north of the city of Perth.

It was a very hot but fun day, and I brought home 2 boxes of strawberries that cost us $5 a box, plus we could eat whatever we wanted.

For other signs from around the world visit Tom's blog.

My (Mum´s) strawberries were crap this "summer". Not even basil did grow...

    1. We used to plant strawberries but the birds would eat more than we did.
The ones I bought this week were awful, not even cream and Port wine could save them :)

  3. ...strawberry time is such a sweet time, but I'd rather buy them picked! That sure is a fancey field, generally we don't see coverings here. Thanks Sami, how about sharing a strawberry shortcake with me?

    1. Thanks Tom, it was fun picking them. I've never baked a strawberry shortcake before, not much of a baker, I prefer desserts.

  7. I'm with Jackie. I'll eat them fresh, still with their little green hats on them. But cut them up and add sugar, or make them into something, and I won't touch them. That's a really fancy farm. I have never seen anything like it, but I don't think strawberries grow very well in my part of the country.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. I do like to add cream at least, but I will eat them simple once in a while.

  18. Once June (and early July) ends our strawberries are from out of state and taste like packing peanuts. How I'd love to dig into those!

    1. Packing peanuts, that's a good one Jeanie. The last ones I bought were tasteless, not sure if it depends on the farms where they come from.
