Monday Mural - Lane murals

In the same lane where I spotted last week's mural at the back of the Alex Hotel and the State Library of Western Australia, which is next to the new Perth Museum, were a few other murals.

If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you; just follow the Linky steps below.   Once you start looking you find murals everywhere. Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters.

Looking forward to your mural finds posted this week. Monday mural meme is posted at 12,01am Monday, Western Australian time.  Thanks, Sami.

This first mural was painted by Perth artist Kyle-Hughes Odgers. Don't know when it was painted, but maybe because it's in an out of the way lane backing the hotel and various bars and restaurants, sadly the mural has a lot of graffiti on it.

The little lane where the murals were seen. To the left was the bee and birds mural

The rock and roll mural at the back advertises Joe's Juice Joint, which in 2019 was recognized as the world's best dive bar (not sure what that is?) and Alabama Song, another bar upstairs, both owned by the same person.

And this geometric mural, that I had already posted in 2015, is just nearby at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts in James street, in the Cultural Centre, was painted by Italian artist Teo Pirisi  aka "Moneyless" for Form's 2015.

  2. I love the idea of an Alabama Song bar in Australia -- it's already a German song about an American state. Once sung by Lotte Lenya, once by The Doors ... and must have whiskey oh you know why...

  4. Dearest Sami,
The Rock and Roll mural is good, the others are just wild and odd looking.

    1. At first glance the middle guy looked like Paul McCartney, but I have no idea who they are meant to be. Thanks Amy

  7. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the colloquial use of the word dive to describe a “drinking den” or “other disreputable place of resort” comes from the fact that these types of establishments were originally housed in cellars or basements, into which “frequenters may 'dive' without observation. ~ Terrific Murals!

  8. The first mural looks faded as if it is quite old or received lots of sun.

The first mural is very cute. And the artwork behind those trash cans is very attractive.

    Thank you for hosting, Sami.

  12. Oh, so sad and dumb with the graffiti.
The blue installation is cool, too.
And the rock and roll one is my fav.

  13. I like the long Odgers mural, shame about the rubbish obscuring the view. But the street art wouldn't be street art if it didn't end up being tagged and partially hidden! Good to see an alley decorated so well.

    1. Thanks Debbie, specially in a working alley murals are bound to be tagged and hidden behind the bins and boxes.

  17. I think that we should resurrect the stocks, put graffiti artists in them and provide passers by with non toxic paint to throw at them. First offenders one day in the stocks, second offenders three days, third.....well you get the picture!

  20. That's a bountiful little lane Sami. There was a period there when so many murals were getting graffitied, seems to have slowed down a bit, fingers crossed ✨
