One of the birds that I regularly see in my garden are the doves.
They usually build their nests in the lemon/mandarin (tangerine) tree, flimsy nests that a strong wind can bring down. More than once I found tiny eggs on the pavers under the tree...
But in the last year or two the same nest has been used a few times and the doves seem to have re-enforced it as it looks quite strong now.
A couple of doves have been born and flown the nest, the last two around Christmas time after we arrived from the Philippines, but Mother dove is back on the nest and I've spotted one baby.
Doves aren't very clever birds, or so I think, but I enjoy seeing them in the garden.
I feed them bird seed, reason why I think they feel at home and come back to nest regularly.

Watchful Mom |
A couple of days ago, one of the doves, maybe the male flew onto the lemon tree on the other side of the garden and Fluffy heard the noise and positioned himself under the tree looking up.
Luckily the cats are too old to climb trees...
What birds do you get in your gardens?

Hello, Sami! Cute photos and post on your doves. They are so pretty. It is nice the see Momma Dove on the nest. Great series of photos. Thanks so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, I appreciate your visit and comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Eileen. Have a lovely Sunday.
DeleteLOVE that last pic! That is adorable. Great pics of the doves. I love watching birds in the yard but I love watching my cat watch them...
ReplyDeleteI'm always worried the cats will catch the birds, but they are older now and luckily not as interested.
DeleteHello. Beautiful doves. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit Anu. Have a lovely weekend too.
Delete...in Maui we have the same kind, I love to hear them in the morning when I wake up.
ReplyDeleteDo they have a distinctive sound. Thanks Tom.
DeleteI am wondering what was Fluffy thinking at the time...
ReplyDelete: )
Probably thinking : if I was younger I would have climbed that tree!
DeleteAmazing photos.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Hugs

Divagar Sobre Tudo um Pouco
Obrigada Maria, um bom fim de semana para si tambem.
DeleteNice captures of the doves. Fluffy would like to have a close relationship with them, I bet. :) I once had a cat that would sit and stare at the tree hoping he could get a bird. Never did but I think he enjoyed the watching game.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Sami.
Thanks Bill. My cats used to catch little birds in their younger days, they are 11 now so not as agile, thank goodness as I like to see birds in my garden!
DeleteLindos e bem apanhados.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

DeleteThey're very pretty, and so is Fluffy.
ReplyDeleteThanks William :)
DeleteCute doves
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam.
DeleteNot that I am fond of doves, it is nice to see birds breeding and thriving. You took some good close up photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew. I don't like pigeons, but don't mind doves, although they aren't too clever.
DeleteI love the doves in my garden, they go about things in a much quieter way than the corellas that are screeching out there right now 😊 lovely shots captured here Sami ✨
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace, they are quiet and gentle.
DeleteDoves are survivors and do well, so they must be doing something right.
ReplyDeleteThanks David, they've certainly been reproducing well :)
DeleteI've never seen a dove before, so your photos were beautiful and the close-ups were incredible. So glad Fluffy can't climb that tree!
ReplyDeleteI thought doves were common birds in the whole world. Yes glad he can't climb anymore. Thanks Elizabeth.
DeleteI've never seen reddish doves before, only the grey ones. They are very cool. Hope Fluff doesn't get them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary, I think there are a few varieties.
DeleteYes cats love birds in a tree so close by. But a dove is much to big for them...
ReplyDeleteFluffy once caught a racing pigeon with a leg ring and brought him home.
DeleteI saw it I caught the poor bird and took him out, calmed the bird down and let him fly away.
Lovely shots, and your bird feeder is so cute. I can only imagine that this is a place your kitty likes to sit
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie. The cats don't really pay much attention to the birds (now sitting on the nest) just if they see them moving around.
DeleteGreat pictures of the doves.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam.
DeleteAmazing shots! We had a half dozen in the yard today!
ReplyDelete(ツ) from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
Thanks Jenn. I get quite a few in my front and back garden too.
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteWhatever birds we have in our yard, it is a joy to watch them.
We do feed them year round and during the cold of winter we again had the gold finches that we feed the fine thistle seeds.
Hummingbirds will soon be back too.
Hugs,
Mariette
It is lovely to have birds in our gardens and help feed them :) Great that you too have birds Mariette.

DeleteI have doves in my garden too, Sami. And I love them. These are marvelous photos.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sami … what a great series of photographs.
ReplyDeleteYour last one made me smile :)
I always enjoy seeing birds in the garden, we had a robin visit the other day.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan :) Glad Fluffy made you smile, he's very naughty.
DeleteI don't think we get robins here, or at least I haven't seen any.
