Thanks, Sami

Another one of the 8 school murals painted for the 4th edition of the Infinito Festival, that took place from the 19th to the 26th September 2022 in schools across the Cascais district.

This one was painted at the São João do Estoril Secondary School (where my Mom gave a speech in March, about the Portuguese consul Aristides Sousa Mendes, who saved Jewish people during the Second World War) - you can read about it here: https://sami-colourfulworld.blogspot.com/2023/04/march-wrap-up-portugal-sintra-and.html

The mural was painted by the duo Frederico Draw & Contra, artists based in the city of Porto, entitled "RUÍDO" (noise) - with faces, colours and patterns to represent the multiculturalism of the school.

  3. The stories of each of the faces are intriguing. For example why does it quote the first words of the US Constitution? who are the individuals depicted?

    Thanks for hosting Monday Murals!

    1. Good question Mae. I assume he says "we the people" meaning all races that frequent the school? I think they are kids that attend that school. At my Mom's speech I noticed African kids and even an Asian girl.

  4. Very nice mural, though language is confusing, the faces say enough.

  11. A very nice mural with a positive message.

  12. While I like the positive message in this mural, the art seems chaotic and difficult to "read".

  13. I like it. If someone painted that in Florida, the governor would condemn it for being “woke.”
