I love murals and street art. If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you. Just follow the Linky steps below. Once you start looking you will find murals everywhere. The "Monday Mural" meme goes live on Monday at 12,01AM, Perth,Western Australian time. Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters. Looking forward to your mural finds this week. Thanks, Sami.
Painted in 2016 by New Zealand artist Askew One, in the town of Bunbury (175km south of Perth) and can be found in the Wittenoom street car park in the city centre.
Not sure what the artist wanted to convey with this mural, with the 3 ladies seeming to have their mouths taped... they almost look as if they are wearing masks.
I'll be away this week on a short holiday to Darwin in the Northern Territory.
So excited to be able to fly again, albeit just a 3,30h flight...
I might take a while to visit you all as I'm not taking my laptop and will only be able to check your blogs with my mobile phone.
But looking forward too all your wonderful murals this week. Thank you 😊
My outdoor art today is three-dimensional, so not strictly a mural. But its art! I like your masked faces.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae 😊
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteElliot O'Donnell https://www.tmdcrew.com/askew-one seems to be mixed up with Vans the Omega... https://australiayourway.com/street-art-in-bunbury/ for which is mentioned Vans the Omega (Joel Van Moore) who painted a portrait of Tasmanian musician Claire Ann Taylor.
Can't help you out with this mystery.
Hugs,
Mariette
He's certainly wrong Mariette. I didn't post the photo of the mural's signature, which is on bottom left but it's 100/ Askew one. Thanks

DeleteIt's a lovely mural, Sami. In a way, it looks like the marks either signifies cats or dogs. It's certainly bold!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth 😊
Deletesign of our times...
ReplyDeleteCertainly looks like.
DeleteThank You, Sami
ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia
DeleteThis is a mural that begs for an explanation. Have a great trip, Sami. It will be great to get away again.
ReplyDeleteThanks David. First day was great and just from my hotel room window I've spotted half a dozen murals 😊
DeleteBlue masks seem so appropriate now. Did the artist have foresight.
ReplyDeleteDoes look like he did Andrew 😁
DeleteQuite unusual.
ReplyDeleteThanks William.
Delete...Askew One painted maks before they became a fact of life. Thanks Sami for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom.
DeleteEnjoy your holiday and that is so very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful holiday.
Thanks Patrick, having a fantastic time!
DeleteThis one is very dramatic.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie.
DeleteThat was what I thought too -- that they were (behind glass and) wearing masks. Then I realized their noses weren't covered. So maybe it's not about covid. (or maybe its about not masking properly. :D)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely vacation, Sami.
Thank you for hosting.
Not about Covid for sure, as the mural was painted in 2016 😁. Thanks Dee
DeleteInteresting take on the mask murals, enjoy your holiday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy
DeleteEste é demasiado real e demasiado actual.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
Mas nada a ver com a pandemia ainda por aparecer em 2016 😁
DeleteThe artist may have a reason for the mural but didn't realized that it has to do with the pandemic and face mask. Enjoy your holiday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy.
DeleteAhead of time, maybe or... well, in many places women have to shut up still. I see it even here and now.
ReplyDeleteThat could be it Iris.
DeleteUm belo mural.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

DeleteHave fun in Darwin. It was our first stop in Australia long ago and it felt so humid when we left the plane. Had never been in such a warm country :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne. Not yet too humid at this time of the year, but it's hot.
DeletePerhaps a later addition.
ReplyDeleteThanks SC.
DeleteBeautiful mural works, Thanks a lot for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead.
Thanks Rupam.
DeleteI thought masks too at first. Perhaps it signifies how men think they can dictate what women do.
ReplyDeleteIt could be that Jackie :(
DeleteInteresting mural. I can't pick up the message either but I'm sure there is one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon.
DeleteYour mural today is beautifully painted. It makes one wonder whether we should value more the artistry (excellent) or the message (mysterious).
ReplyDeleteCertainly mysterious Jack.
DeleteI just assumed masks at first. Have a good holiday!
ReplyDeleteNot yet back then. Thanks Pat
DeleteI love trying to figure out what the artist is portraying. Enjoy your trip. Wren x
ReplyDeleteNot easy. Thanks Wren.
DeleteInteresting mural. Have a good trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
DeleteThey do almost look like masks, and quite pretty. Enjoy your trip! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThanks RO, just arrived back last night :)
