Thanks, Sami.
Painted in 2016 by New Zealand artist Askew One, in the town of Bunbury (175km south of Perth) and can be found in the Wittenoom street car park in the city centre.
Not sure what the artist wanted to convey with this mural, with the 3 ladies seeming to have their mouths taped... they almost look as if they are wearing masks.
I'll be away this week on a short holiday to Darwin in the Northern Territory.
So excited to be able to fly again, albeit just a 3,30h flight...
I might take a while to visit you all as I'm not taking my laptop and will only be able to check your blogs with my mobile phone.
But looking forward too all your wonderful murals this week. Thank you 😊
My outdoor art today is three-dimensional, so not strictly a mural. But its art! I like your masked faces.ReplyDelete
best... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae 😊Delete
Elliot O'Donnell https://www.tmdcrew.com/askew-one seems to be mixed up with Vans the Omega... https://australiayourway.com/street-art-in-bunbury/ for which is mentioned Vans the Omega (Joel Van Moore) who painted a portrait of Tasmanian musician Claire Ann Taylor.
Can't help you out with this mystery.
He's certainly wrong Mariette. I didn't post the photo of the mural's signature, which is on bottom left but it's 100/ Askew one. ThanksDelete
It's a lovely mural, Sami. In a way, it looks like the marks either signifies cats or dogs. It's certainly bold!ReplyDelete
Thanks Elizabeth 😊Delete
sign of our times...ReplyDelete
Certainly looks like.Delete
Thank You, SamiReplyDelete
This is a mural that begs for an explanation. Have a great trip, Sami. It will be great to get away again.ReplyDelete
Thanks David. First day was great and just from my hotel room window I've spotted half a dozen murals 😊Delete
Blue masks seem so appropriate now. Did the artist have foresight.ReplyDelete
Does look like he did Andrew 😁Delete
...Askew One painted maks before they became a fact of life. Thanks Sami for hosting.ReplyDelete
Enjoy your holiday and that is so very interesting.ReplyDelete
Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful holiday.
Thanks Patrick, having a fantastic time!Delete
This one is very dramatic.ReplyDelete
That was what I thought too -- that they were (behind glass and) wearing masks. Then I realized their noses weren't covered. So maybe it's not about covid. (or maybe its about not masking properly. :D)ReplyDelete
Have a lovely vacation, Sami.
Thank you for hosting.
Not about Covid for sure, as the mural was painted in 2016 😁. Thanks DeeDelete
Interesting take on the mask murals, enjoy your holiday.ReplyDelete
Este é demasiado real e demasiado actual.ReplyDelete
Mas nada a ver com a pandemia ainda por aparecer em 2016 😁Delete
The artist may have a reason for the mural but didn't realized that it has to do with the pandemic and face mask. Enjoy your holiday.ReplyDelete
Ahead of time, maybe or... well, in many places women have to shut up still. I see it even here and now.ReplyDelete
That could be it Iris.Delete
Um belo mural.ReplyDelete
Um abraço e boa semana.

Have fun in Darwin. It was our first stop in Australia long ago and it felt so humid when we left the plane. Had never been in such a warm country :)ReplyDelete
Thanks Marianne. Not yet too humid at this time of the year, but it's hot.Delete
Perhaps a later addition.ReplyDelete
Beautiful mural works, Thanks a lot for sharing.ReplyDelete
Have a nice week ahead.
I thought masks too at first. Perhaps it signifies how men think they can dictate what women do.ReplyDelete
It could be that Jackie :(Delete
Interesting mural. I can't pick up the message either but I'm sure there is one.ReplyDelete
Your mural today is beautifully painted. It makes one wonder whether we should value more the artistry (excellent) or the message (mysterious).ReplyDelete
Certainly mysterious Jack.Delete
I just assumed masks at first. Have a good holiday!ReplyDelete
Not yet back then. Thanks PatDelete
I love trying to figure out what the artist is portraying. Enjoy your trip. Wren xReplyDelete
Not easy. Thanks Wren.Delete
Interesting mural. Have a good trip!ReplyDelete
They do almost look like masks, and quite pretty. Enjoy your trip! Hugs, ROReplyDelete
