Monday Mural meme is posted at 12,01am Monday, Western Australian time. Thanks, Sami.

In October 2018 I posted this mural made with 8000 hand-made tiles, by Portuguese/Australian artist Luis Geraldes in the Sydney suburb of Petersham, also known as "Little Portugal".

In 2019 I visited the same area, but took the train and discovered some bright murals on the staircase leading to the station.
Painted in 2018, the various murals titled Vanishing Point were painted by George Rose, Brad Eastman, James Simon and Tim Phibs.

  1. Wow. These murals are both bright and colorful. I'm having trouble seeing the railway tracks from aerial photos, though. I do agree they are gorgeous geometric images. Lovely photos, Sami.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. Just checked on google maps and I could see the red/blue/yellow lines that correspond to the train lines that go past Petersham station.
The station is at the junction of Trafalgar and Audley street and the murals are right in front of a roundabout.

  2. Murals on a staircase offer an unusual challenge to the artists, and this seems to be a good way to respond. Nice find!

  6. Wow. It is not too many murals that receive a plaque. Imagine what it might look like without the murals.

  10. Vanishing Point sounds scary, Sami! But the murals, especially the fish make it easier.
I remember Sydney 1995. Ingo was staying in the deep garage to sell our car and I had an arvo off. Went to the tube at King´s Cross and could not read the maps! Asked a nice-looking man for the right train and he knew straight away.
    Huh???
Waited for another, both were right, I did not vanish.
But murals, back then? I cannot remember any.

    1. Probably no murals back then Iris. Or if there were we probably didn't notice either :)

  11. What wonderful colour! It's a bit abstract for me, Sami, and without the plaque I wouldn't have got the theme. But it's still good to see such a bright welcome to the station - was there more inside?

Em Miami deliciei-me com m bairro onde todas as paredes , ou quase, são obras de arte.
