2016 Sculpture by the Sea - III

These will be the second last post about the sculptures I'm presenting you from this year's 12th Sculpture by the Sea.

"Skin Cube" a 2,44mt high and wide cube by Danish artist Louise Sparre, modelled on her own skin onto pvc prints skin glued to plywood.

Sydney artist Elyssa Sykes-Smith, presents "The Break Wall" displayed on the rocks of the breakwater. She usually uses discarded pieces of wood for her sculptures.

Western Australian trio Tim Burns, Gary Carter and Tatjana Seserko covered a camping van in foil and silver paint - "Homeless Carapace".
I just wonder how they got the van down on the beach?

The year of the Pig (2016) is here represented  by "Pig of Fortune #2"by South Korean Tae-Geun Yang.  A metal structure with lots of rings and a tree sprouting from it's tail.

Perth artist Mikaela Castledine presented a collection of 6 Buddhist Stupas entitled "Big Intentions" inspired by her visit to Myanmar (Burma) in steel and crochet.
Mikaela won the $10000 WA Sculptor scholarship in the 2013 exhibition with the black crocheted crows - "Tokyo Crows".

Another beautiful sculpture made of wood called " " - meaning "Beacon" in Danish, by German architecture firm KWY, in collaboration with Lise Kassow (Danish), Ricardo Gomes (Portuguese) and Ben Allen (English).
I hope it wins some sort of award as it's really an amazing piece!

Hope you enjoyed seeing a few more sculptures and I'll end this series in the next post.

  5. Beautiful light here and last post Sami, were you there just before sunset? Did you think there weren't as many sculptures as last year?

    1. Yes, I was there at sunset, hence the orangy tinge on the photos. They mentioned over 70 sculptures, but maybe they were smaller and it felt as if they were less than last year.
