As part of JedariArt, an initiative to bring life into urban spaces across Doha, artists from India and Pakistan painted two adjacent walls outside Al Mansoura Metro Station in the popular form of truck art - the practice of customising trucks and buses in Asian countries with floral patterns and calligraphy.
The initiative was the brought about by "All India Permit" duo Akhlaq Ahmad aka Shabbu Painter and Farid Bawa and Phool Patti team that includes Ali Salman Anchan, Mumtaz Ahmed and Muhammad Amin.
The Indian team showcased a vibrant typography with motifs and slogans in seven languages (Hindi, English, Bangla, Punjabi, Arabic, Urdu and Telugu) inspired by the Indian trucks.

Once the murals were painted, the artists explored Doha and were amazed at the art installations in the country. Farid Bawa stated, "I have always been amazed by the art installations at the airport, but this time while exploring Doha I realised what an open air art museum the city is. Happy to be a part of it now."

ReplyDeleteDoha truly seems to be an open-air art museum! You found so many murals there. The ones you're showing today are another good example. When we were in India, we saw numerous of these beautifully decorated trucks 🚚 - and the creative decoration of the walls with the truck art is fantastic!
