Monthly Wrap-up - November

Sat 2nd - The Canning Agricultural, Horticultural & Recreational Society (Cahrs) held the annual Canning show from Friday 1st to Saturday 2nd.

Our Community Harvest group has been participating for the last couple of years, and this year we just participated for a few hours with a Kids Pasta Making workshop. After that we served up pasta with sauce that had been previously prepared.

We were visited by the "Marvel team"

Legos, art, photography, flowers, flower arranging, cake decorating, etc, etc...was on display at the Canning show.

Sunday 3rd - Our local "Buy Nothing" organized a "Buy nothing garage sale".  I had lots of stuff to be gifted, but the garage sale wasn't too successful for any of the participants. Not too well advertised, too many events in our area that weekend....

Anyway, a few days later I advertised the items individually on the Buy Nothing facebook page and managed to get rid of a few items.

Friday 8th - Together with another couple, Jose and I met up with a friend visiting from Tasmania, and we had dinner at The Wellard Pub.

Saturday 9th - Sara, who was recently voted as the "Portuguese Community Counsellor", organized the First education session at the Perth Portuguese club, with members in various fields - education, business, aged care, consular matters...

Sunday 10th - With my friend Maria we attended the "Open House Perth" event by visiting 3 architect renovated houses - 2 in the northern suburbs and 1 in Fremantle. This year we had to book our visits (at least for the houses...).  We loved seeing clever ideas.

The we had lunch in Fremantle, at an Italian restaurant "Vin Populi". Food was delicious, service great.

Wednesday 20th  - I put up my Christmas tree to be able to enjoy it a little bit since we won't be home for Christmas. We will have our usual big get-together with family and friends, but this year it will be the weekend before we leave.

Thursday 28th - Dr S. invited me to go with her and family to a candlelight concert at the old Perth Town Hall in the city centre.
Even though I'm not a great fan of classical music, I quite enjoyed the 1 hour long concert, and found it very relaxing.

On the way to the train station to return home I stopped to take photos of some of the Christmas lights in the city centre. This year there wasn't even time for a proper visit to the "Christmas lights trail".

Saturday 30th - Jose and I spent a few hours working in the garden and preparing our patio area for the upcoming Christmas lunch with friends.

It was our wedding anniversary, so we went to dinner at the Italian restaurant "Vin Populi" in Fremantle. I had been there with my friend Maria on the 10th and suggested to Jose we go there.  He also liked the food.

One of the days I went to my weekly Occupational Therapy session in South Perth, near the Swan River and took photos of these cute statues of meerkats and the area near the ferry station.

Another day returning home from the Occupational therapy in Claremont, I took the river road instead of the inner road and stopped at one of the parks.
Great river views, mega mansions... these suburbs are where the other half live 😎

After over 2 months after my hand operation there's been no improvement despite the physio and home exercises... I've had an MRI done, blood tests - nothing much apart from scar tissue, which we are trying to massage away... Hand still doesn't fold to palm as finger stills swollen and doesn't go straight either... so I'm actually worse off than before the operation. Very frustrating!!

  1. The wagtail nest is a work of art.
I like the plate NOTHPYJAN and I wonder if MORMOR is a reference to the Billy Idol's Rebel Yell.

    1. I agree Andrew, their nest is really a work of art. Mormor is "grandmother" in Swedish.

Will you do a post on the houses some day?
Love the Perth-sign. And your wedding pic! And the meerkats.awww....
Sad about your hand. Sounds like my darn arm back then.
Beautiful sunset! Oh, do I miss the chatter of the Magpies. They woke us each morning in Madeley. They and the Kookaburras (that´s why we always stay there and why I always have to ask for your help....)
Sad when you need a number plate telling others you are grumpy.
