Thanks Sami
A mural I saw in the city in May this year when I walked from the Elizabeth Quay train station to the centre of town. This mural replaced another mural by the same artist originally painted in 2019 (which I never posted: see last picture).
Painted by one of the most talented muralists - Graeme Miles Richards - a New Zealander born artist, residing in Perth for over 30 years, this mural was painted in March this year at "Australia Place" building in William Street in Perth's central business district.
...I don't know a thing about wombats, but these large one look a bit menacing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sami for hosting, I wish you a wonderful week.
The only wombats I've seen have been in animals parks, and they seemed very tame :) Thanks Tom
DeleteAwesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLove the wombats. The new mural and the old mural are both awesome.
Have a great day and happy week ahead.
Thank you Eileen, both are beautiful.
DeleteThe wombat is super cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roentare :)
DeleteThis is fantastic work - the colour of the light (sky) is great, and i love that in both the mural escapes off th wall. Fantastic stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lydia. The artist is fantastic!
DeleteMurals and street art are such vibrant expressions of creativity! Graeme Miles Richards’ work sounds fantastic and it's amazing to see the evolution of his art. Looking forward to more mural finds this week! Wishing you a colorful and inspiring week ahead. Check out my new style post: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2024/08/uoozee-church-outfit-review.html). Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit Melody.
DeleteMarvelous work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Magiceye.
DeleteUm dos meus favoritos até agora.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
Obrigada Pedro, um dos meus artistas favoritos aqui em Perth. Boa semana
DeleteA wonderful mural!
ReplyDeleteIngo was in Australia the first time in 1993 with his Brother and a friend. At night, in the tent, from outside someone snuggled up - it was a wombat, like the cutie in Caversham :-)
The lizard (I never saw for real) I have right here as pin on my smartphone and oh, that duck! So cute!
And the landscape.... when we went with the Indian Pacific back to Perth this year I so enjoyed this as we drove by car in 1995 - most read a book or such! Why pay so much money for reading a book?!
Ingo has a program to reduce the videos I took in data to publish, must really do that.
And the Splendid Fairy Wren!!!!
2019 in Yuraygir National Park Grace and Ingo took pics of a huge Spider (eeek), whilst Pat and I quickly moved on.
Pat tried to show me that bird, I never saw it and thought he makes fun of me - and then I found a postcard of it this year!
Thank you for all the memories and I like this one much better than the "old" one.
Thanks Iris :) I've updated the post with a photo of both of us with the wombat taken at Caversham. Maybe Yanchep National Park, north of Perth.
DeleteSuch a sense of place! Feels like I've been to Australia through that art. Thank you, Sami
ReplyDeleteAloha
Thank you Cloudia. It's a very Australian mural.
DeleteI'll get back to you a little later! Hugs in the meantime, Traude
ReplyDeleteWonderful, dear Sami! As you probably know, I love wombats - especially since I was able to see them in the wild and in a sanctuary in Tasmania. The mural with the giant wombats appeals to me very much - and all the little details that you also captured (like the bird on the stairs next to the rubber duck) make the mural all the more magical. It's just a shame about the other picture, which also looks impressive - I always wonder why such works of art are painted over (even by the same artist...) when there are still so many bare walls...
ReplyDeleteAll the best and a happy new week, Traude

I was surprised and sad that such a nice mural was painted over... don't know why, as you say there are so many blank walls... Thanks Traude
DeleteWow you have wombats and WOMBATS. Great mural.
ReplyDeleteThanks SC :)
DeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill :)
DeleteI love this naturalistic mural. I'm glad you included so many close ups in your post.
ReplyDeleteSusan
Thanks Susan, there were so many small details....they needed their own photo :)
DeleteI love seeing murals that honor the local nature. I love the people admiring the larger than life wombats. Even the birds seem impressed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon :)
DeleteIt's a good one, Sami. Iris looks a little unsure about the wombat.
ReplyDeleteProbably not prepared for the photo, lol. Thanks Pat.
DeleteTruly Amazing mural work, Loved it. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for hosting.
Thank you Rupam, enjoy the rest of the week
DeleteIf I saw a wombats, that big, I’d be running like the guy in the original mural!
ReplyDeleteLuckily they are not that gigantic, just heavy :) Thanks Linda
DeleteI love the little lizard on the steps, Sami. Sometimes it's the small details that charm. We spotted a chameleon on the boardwalk today and watched his slow, steady progress for ages.
