Painted for Darwin's Street Art Festival 2017, by Melbourne artist Mike Makatron and Sped One, the mural was painted on the walls of the Darwin RSL club, adjoining a car park at 24 Austin Lane, in the city centre.
Can you see last week's mural at the end of the street? |
This is SO relevant for this week, Sami. Remembrance day will be here in a few days and this was the absolute perfect time to share these poppies that are a symbol of WWI. This is such a beautiful mural, and yes, I see the mural from last week, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. You are right, I forgot to mention Remembrance Day on the 11th, as this mural would relate to it too.
Delete...a great mural for this time of year. Thanks Sami for hosting and I hope that your week is off to a good start.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom :)
DeleteAmerica is so busy with current challenges that I've seen almost no commemoration of Veteran's Day OR of its older identity, Armistice Day. I really like your mural's combining of symbolic flowers from two continents.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
We will have what they call "Remembrance Day" celebrations on the 11th Nov. Thanks Mae
DeleteLove Poppies! We use them here in Nz to remember Anzac Day and all fallen soldiers.
ReplyDeleteI have red poppies in my garden. They are very popular at Anzac Day.
DeleteVery well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks William :)
DeleteVery nice work by the very talented Makatron. There seems to be quite a lot of murals in Darwin.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew. I was surprised at the dozens of murals I found in Darwin. And the week before I arrived they had the 2021 Darwin Street Art Festival, but the murals were painted in the suburbs, which I didn't visit.
DeleteA clever and thoughtful mural. I like the blending of the green and red, linking lost soldiers around the world.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie :)
Deletethese giants puppies are beautiful. I am always touched by the fact that the Commonwealth countries continue to honor the memory of the veterans who died on the battlefields of Europe, during this war where so many young men were sacrificed by their fathers in a terrible slaughter in the name of nationalism.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kwarkito. I find it remarkable too that these countries still honour the soldiers that were lost in the wars. Such a great tribute.
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteThose Poppies are very well painted; an attractive and meaningful mural.
Barely can make out the mural at the end of the street...
Hugs,
Mariette

DeleteMy favorite flower. Beauti- and meaningful mural.
ReplyDeleteThanks Iris, I have some poppies in the garden, given to us by our friend Tony (the couple you visited with me at the Bull Creek Estate)
DeleteBeautiful mural with the flora and fauna in remembrance of the lost soldiers. Poppies are beautiful. Yes, I can see last week's mural at the end of the street.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, poppies certainly are a pretty flower.
DeleteI have no clue why, but it always says error on your linky list: https://geriatrixfotogallerie.wordpress.com/2021/11/08/teejay-und-basco/
ReplyDeleteNot sure Traudel, up to now you seem to be the only one who couldn't link up. I've entered your link manually.

DeleteGreat hommage to nature this mural.
ReplyDeleteThanks SC :)
DeleteGreat murals there!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne :)
DeleteIt is very beautiful. The flora of Australia is so remarkable, and in so many cases quite different from elsewhere in the world. With luck, cooperation from COVID, and airline service that is reasonably priced, I will be back there in July.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful David. Let me know if you come to Perth at all. I haven't made travel plans yet, waiting on our Western Australian border to open hopefully by March, but our Premier is insisting on 90% double vaccination rate...we are at 66%, so it might take a while!
DeleteThis is so beautiful, I love the poppies. I will have to repost some Remembrance Day murals on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie. I'm sure you will have some beautiful ones in the UK.
DeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Thanks Lea :) You too.
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon :)

DeleteThis mural is fabulous! What a wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeannie :)
DeleteSuch lush floral murals. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThank you:)
DeleteFun to see! The last photo is my favorite because the colors look so brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, the photos were taken in different days, the last one was taken through the fence in one street, but then I realized I could go to the next street as the area as opened, so a few days later went there.
