Signs - Love locks in East Perth

In the inner city suburb of East Perth, there is a small bridge over Claisebrook Cove where you can place your "love locks" just as it was popular in bridges in Paris and other European cities...

In the park there is a bike repair centre, which can be handy for all those cycling around that beautiful area of Perth.

The Peace Grove monument in honour of Mohamed Anwar el Sadat (Egyptian President) and Yitzhak Rabin (Israel's Prime Minister), both winners of the Nobel Prize for Peace.

Last week we went to East Perth at night to see some of the Christmas lights, part of Perth's Christmas Lights trail, and the area is just as magical during the evening.

It's one of my favourite places in Perth, wish I had the bucks to afford it 🥰.

Painted in 2015 for Rediscover Bunbury, by Perth artist Kyle Hughes Odgers on the wall facing the carpark of the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

Just around the corner an abstract mural painted in 2016 by Sydney artist, Elliot Numskull, at the loading dock at the rear of the Entertainment Centre.

Signs - Signs of Christmas II

Wishing all my blog readers and friends a most wonderful Christmas. I really appreciate your visits and comments.

It will be a lonely and different Christmas celebration for many, others like us are lucky to be able to celebrate almost normally with our local friends and family.

These murals are part of the mural trail in the quaint seaside city of Bunbury, 2 hours south of Perth, where we went for our wedding anniversary at the end of November.

This gigantic mural entitled Storm, was painted in 2015 for Rediscover Bunbury, by Australian artist Fintan Magee is on the walls on the lane behind the Grand Cinema in Clifton Street and it reflects the housing crisis and natural disasters from his own personal experience.

The artist usually explores themes of waste, climate change, consumption, loss and transition and his large scale murals can be seen in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane (where he lives), Los Angeles, Vienna, Jakarta, London, Dublin, Copenhagen, Oslo and Hong Kong.

Next to Fintan's mural was a mural painted by Australian artists Beastman (Bradley Eastman) and Phibs.

The street art was trail was developed as part of ReDiscover Bunbury, curated by SixTwoThreeZero to showcase established Australian & international artists who painted exterior murals on the streets of Bunbury’s CBD to attract visitors and brighten the city with over 40 murals.

Signs - Paint is good for the soul

Picasso said "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life", and on the lids of the Fusion mineral paint that I use to upcycle furniture, you can see the words "Paint is good for the soul" and "a pot of inspiration".

I've always been crafty, and I can attest that if I feel stressed the best cure is to go and paint.

It has been proved that art relieves stress, encourages creative thinking, increases brain plasticity and brings other mental health benefits, as it reduces cortisol, the "stress hormone" and releases endorphins, the feel good chemicals that combat stress and reduce pain.

I've just finished painting two old kid stools I bought second-hand, and they will be given to my grandchildren at Christmas.

Painted in January 2016 in Ron Mort Park, Molloy Street, Bunbury for Rediscover Bunbury, this feminine ballerina was inspired by Swan Lake and created by Brisbane based artist Gimiks Born (Johnny Radford).

In front of the mural we can see an Ankylosaurus - a dinosaur covered in bony armour for the kids to climb.
