Monday Mural - Native birds and flowers VII

Through my local City of Canning council I receive regular emails with updates about what is happening in the neighbourhood. A couple of weeks ago I read about a mural just painted on a wall in a new park under development in Wharf street, Cannington, by two talented Perth artists, Brenton See and J.D. Penangke who blended their talents in an artistic collaboration.

The park - Next Generation Community Park - was meant to have been finished in the current month of June, but due to Covid it's far from finished, but the mural has been painted on the wall of an existing business building adjoining the park.

Because of fencing around the construction site I could only photograph the mural sideways through the metal fence.  Will have to keep an eye out for when it's finished so I can take better photos.

The project is turning an inaccessible storm water basin into a smart park with interactive water education stations, a habitat for wildlife, boardwalks, a pedestrian bridge to access a street on the other side, free WiFi, smart benches to charge devices...

By coincidence the mural that I posted last week is in another park in the same street! Both murals are a couple of blocks from the Carousel shopping centre.

If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you;
just follow the Linky steps below.  Once you start looking you find murals everywhere.
Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters. Looking forward to your mural finds posted this week.  Monday mural meme is posted at 12,01am Monday, Western Australian time. Thanks, Sami.

  1. Making storm-water cachements into recreational areas is a wonderful trend! We have one near us that's very well designed -- no murals there, though!

    Love the native bird, reptile and frog!
    Do you actually find cacti in your region?

  4. This is a very clever way to build up the storm-water basin area. The mural is gorgeous and goes on FOREVER. Sadly, the Cooper Tire sign draws you eye into the photos. I love the mural, though and the nature inspired art these two artists seem to be so good at creating.

    I held my breath today wondering if my photo would post. Seems it did. I have NO idea what happened last week.

    1. I have no idea why there is an advert facing the new park, but it certainly detracts from the mural. Thanks Elizabeth

  7. Very nice murals. I suppose the area can still flood if it needs to without the water reaching the new buildings and facilities.

    1. Thanks Andrew. Not sure how the "flooding" would work.

  10. The mural is quite wonderful, Sami, but the plan to transform this place into a little oasis, with habitat for wildlife is the best news of all.
