Signs - UV Board

With a few very hot days already experienced during this Spring, this sign is quite appropriate for those going out to parks and beaches in Perth.
We've had 39C (102F) on Saturday, 30C (89,6F)  on Monday and Tuesday and 34C (93,2F) today, 37C (98,6C)on Thursday...  Thankfully the temperatures will decrease next week to the high 20'sC.
So before going out check the UV (ultraviolet radiation) and slip, slop, slap 😉

For other signs from around the world please go over to Tom's blog.

  1. I have no idea how you live in a climate that has those kinds of temperature with such regularity. And summer has not even arrived yet.

    1. I do prefer the heat David and because we have a dry climate it's quite bearable. It would be a lot worse if it was humid.

    2. Here is what I find. Doesn't matter how cold it gets I can dress for it and stay warm. Once it gets much over thirty degrees it becomes exhausting to walk for any length of time and there is no way to escape it. Once it gets over thirty-five prolonged exposure becomes dangerous. Yesterday we went for a walk in the snow at minus eleven, well dressed for the conditions. We had bright sunshine and it was delightful.

  2. Australia can be very hot indeed, I remember very well our visit long ago, always wearing hats

    1. Thanks Marianne. Some areas can get quite hot indeed and a hat is always a good idea.

  3. Ohhh, lucky you, Sami!
I always wear UV index 50 plus sunscreen and my red hat in your place :-)
Right now I´m wearing the new extra warming long "underwear" I bought yesterday (I´m still too frugal to put on the heating manually, it´s only autumn!).

    1. Last Summer I only used the air-con 3 or 4 times, as if we keep the windows and blinds closed the house stays cooler. Thanks Iris, keep warm :)

  5. ...interesting, I've never seen this both. In Maui the have UV index in the paper each morning. Here today the index is 0, it's snowing. Thanks Sami for stopping, don't get burned today.

    1. Thanks Tom. No chance of burning, just drove from home to work and back home again :) Thanks for hosting.

  8. There is definitely climate change happening. We have snow here which is way too early in the season for it!

    1. I don't stay out long enough to burn I think, because I'm not a beach person either. Thanks Adam

  11. These are MY summer temps nearly daily, but the humidity is quite high, too. I'm with David M. I can always add more layers, but in the summer, I can't take off enough to go outside without being arrested. That's why I don't venture too far from home in summer. That's a wonderful sign, though, and it definitely is one that is functional, too.

    1. I think what saves us is not having humidity because that is awful when it's too hot. Sydney weather is humid so you just sweat outside. Thanks Elizabeth.

  15. Dearest Sami,
Well, we don't need any UV signs right now. We have had our first -2ºC at night. Luckily all tropical potplans got transported into the greenhouse on Monday afternoon, by our young man who helps out. Good feeling! MISS the tropics during November, December, January and part of February!
I'm like you, a person born to enjoy tropical environments. Cold gets to your bones and ails you in many ways, like sciatica, bronchitis etc. So happy that is of the past!
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Indeed Mariette, having been born and raised in Africa I do prefer the hot weather and couldn't imagine living for too long in very cold parts of the world.

  16. Phew … those temperatures seem very high to me!
Important that we take account of them and use sun-hats and sunscreen lotion.

    All the best Jan
