Dinner was held at the Italian restaurant "La Capannina" at the beach side suburb of Scarborough.
There were just 12 of us, and we had dinner in the small private room, and the main wall had a huge mural, which on researching I found out was painted in March 2018 by Big Bite Designs, a creative studio.
As the room was quite narrow it was difficult to photograph it from the front.

Thanks, Sami. The Ambassador (and his wife standing on the right with the dotted dress) surrounded by members of the Portuguese Australian Association |
Regardless of the less than favorable photo op, it is still an absolutely incredible mural. Congrats on your latest position, too. As if you didn't have enough on your plate (grin). Lovely mural find.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth, I liked the mural and its colours :)
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on forming the new Women's Association. The mural is beautiful! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!
Thank you Eileen, have a wonderful week too.
DeleteMurals on restaurant walls are always a pleasure to see, but hard to capture in a photo! I think you did a good job. I hope you enjoy your new organization.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thank you Mae :)
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteThat was a great kick-off for the Portuguese Australian Women's Association's members and you to have dinner with the Portuguese Ambassador and his wife.
Don't like the mural though as it way too large and out of proportion for such a narrow room!
Look at the mini-chairs and the tiny people against it...
Hugs,
Mariette
Sorry you didn't like it Mariette, most murals are quite gigantic compared to the people standing next to them.
DeleteMainly talking about the proportions... You cannot even stand back and look at it.😉
Delete...this is gorgeous, just what I would expect to see in Maui. Thanks Sami for hosting.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it would go perfectly well in Maui Tom :)
DeleteTerrific shots!
ReplyDeleteThank you William.
DeleteCool mural
ReplyDeleteThank you Adam.
DeleteLovely mural. It must have been a very pleasant evening.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew, it certainly was, the Ambassador was a very charming person and very interested in our life journeys. He said he's a collector of life stories :)
DeleteA comida assim até sabe melhor.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
Por acaso nao era nada de especial, ja comi comida Italiana bem melhor em locais mais baratos, mas claro tambem se paga por estar frente a praia.
DeleteBoa semana Pedro.
Beautiful, not only the mural! The whole idea, and the group-picture.
ReplyDeleteWho does not want to sit with a collector of life stories? :-) Wonderful.
Quite right Iris, it's wonderful to speak to people who want to know your story, we all have interesting life stories to tell.
DeleteGreat mural, and how wonderful that the crowd wasn't too large to be able to enjoy the meal and conversation. Everyone looks really happy and how cool to eat with an ambassador! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteThank you RO. It was a last minute arrangement but it all worked out pretty well.
DeleteGostei deste mural.

DeleteThis one is just glorious. I love the soft colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie, I also thought the colours were lovely.
