Monday Mural - Paris meets Lisbon

On that first day we went into Lisbon, while looking for that famous white bean tart factory, I saw this fantastic tiled wall and we stopped to take some photos.

Created by André Saraiva with the help of Lisbon's City Hall and MUDE (Musuem of Design and Fashion) of Lisbon.
The artist who was born in Upsala, Sweden to Portuguese parents, who then moved to Paris, where he still lives and works, designed this amazing 188mt (616ft) long wall with over 52 thousand ceramic tiles, with depictions of important monuments in both cities - Paris meets Lisbon.
It is located on the walls surrounding Jardim Botto Machado (Botto Machado Park) and near Lisbon's biggest flea market - Feira da Ladra and the Pantheon.

  4. That is one huge mural. Not only was it impressive, it was, from what I saw, nearly a block long. Those tiles were incredible. You were so lucky to find this one.

  17. I think if I was ever to create a mural I would start with a bottle of wine in the middle and build out from there too! lol

    1. No wine involved in this one Wren, lol. Or who knows, the artist might have drunk a few bottles while doing this huge work.

  18. This is truly extraordinary. Not merely because of the intricate artwork involved in putting all those tiles in order - must have been assembling a giant jigsaw puzzle without knowing what the various pieces look like until you paint them - but because of the theme - bringing the two cities together. And one must say your photography is superb for you were able to bring us up close and give us a sense of what a massive project this is and how truly beautiful it is!
