During our 3 days in the south of Portugal - Algarve - with my sister and brother in law we met up with Jose's eldest brother and sister in law, for dinner in the city of Faro, where they live.

On the walk to and from the restaurant in the pedestrian zones I spotted lots of murals, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974 "Carnation revolution" in Portugal.

These are called "Freedom murals" and were painted to celebrate the spirit of liberation, across the Faro district and the wider Algarve region.

The first one at an electrical substation at Rua das Traineiras, in Cascais, spotted while we waited for a bus to the train station. As per Tom, the mural is called "Amar" (to love) and it was painted by Portuguese artist MESQ aka Ana Mesquita.

Another one in Cascais, painted on an electrical substation.

Torre Skatepark, at Rua dos Pesqueiros, Cascais, which is next to a sports complex.

The blue tile-like mural was painted by local artists Add Fuel, (aka Diogo Machado) and Kiam.

Both artists have other murals painted in the neighbourhood, which I've posted befoer.

Murals seen on my walks around Cascais, where we stayed with my parents during our holiday in Portugal in May/June this year.

This one was painted on a electrical substation in a park near my parents place, by Mafalda MG in 2025.

This vibrant mural with stylized characters, was painted by Portuguese artist "The Caver" aka Nuno Barbedat the local school across from the park.

This tiled panel can be seen right outside the Centro Cultural de Cascais (Cascais Cultural Centre) along Avenue King Humberto II of Italy, and was created by Portuguese artist Ana Velez.

Below you can see the pink building -  Cascais Cultural Centre - which originally operated as a 16th century monastery.

It was in this space that on the 8th March 2025, we hosted the "4 generations birthday party" - with my daughter, my Dad, my great-niece and I celebrating our March birthdays.
