I'm back from my short visit to Portugal, where I found lots of interesting murals.
I'll start posting them once I sort out my notes about where I saw them and who painted them...
In the meantime here are some cute recycling bins. Hopefully they encourage more people to recycle!

Muito giras!!!
ReplyDeleteBem regressada, Sami!!

Obrigada Sandra.
DeleteCool stuff Sami!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom.
DeleteThese are genuine works of art. We don't have anything that looks like those recycle bins in the US. In fact, we don't seem to encourage recycling like they do in every other country in the world. Seems we send everything to our landfill that could be sent elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI love these pieces, and applaud the Portuguese for their artful way of recycling.
Thanks Elizabeth. That's strange that a first world country does not encourage recycling. I still remember we "had to" recycle when we lived in Germany 30 years ago - they had bins for glass, paper and tin. They certainly were ahead then! Here in Australia our recycling goes all in one bin and not in separate bins.
DeleteAww, love especially the first one!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, would you mind if I send the first pic to the city here? If it´s ok with or without your blog-address? If it´s not ok, no worries! Hopes are rather low the city makes an efford...
Hi Iris, I don't mind at all, you can include the link to my blog. I think these bins look better than the usual plain green bins the had before...
DeleteGreat, thank you, will do, Sami - maybe wonders happen, right?
Delete15 minutes later I got an answer from a real person! They sent forward to ALBA who hosts the containers.
DeleteThat could be good then, at least some action was taken.
DeleteVery creative done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne.
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteLove that idea and they look very decorative.
The 'ANGRY' 2nd photo has a reason for looking the way it does, with so much being littered beside the bin!
Hugs and welcome home!
Mariette
I agree Mariette, I also didn't like to see the rubbish besides the bin instead of being put inside it...Thanks
DeleteWhat a wonderful murals and so lovely idea make the city more interesting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Orvokki.
DeleteAren't they fab Sami, the first two are a wee bit scary, I might be afraid to put my hand near them :) :)
ReplyDeleteI also rather prefer the more delicate ones...Thanks Grace.
DeleteWow, cool paintings !
ReplyDeleteThanks Karl.
DeleteThose are wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
DeleteVery inventive. I especially like the wookie. He looks like he will take whatever you put in his receptacle. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting ODP. He could be a Star Wars character.
DeleteWhat a great way to call attention to recycling! I haven't seen this idea in the US. Nor have I been to Portugal so I really enjoyed your posts on that country. Glad to discover your blog, and thank you for visiting mine. I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and commenting Cynthia.Glad you enjoyed my posts.
DeleteWhat an inventive way to attract attention to recycling! I wonder how you get to design a recycling bin street art, that's quite something to have on your resume isn't it ?!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying seeing your Portuguese trip!
Wren x
Thanks Wren, maybe Portugal could be on your holiday list for a future holiday.
