My weekend

After a couple of very busy weekends doing things around the house, this weekend we had a "renovation free" weekend.
On Friday after work we met up with friends in the Cultural Centre close to the WA Museum in the city.
On the way to the city we drove by this park full of lovely spring colour, aren't they gorgeous?

We wandered around the area until we found a restaurant we fancied and settle on an Indian restaurant - Sauma - in William str in Northbridge. The food was nice, service was quick and friendly, prices were average.

Signs in Northbridge with a map of the area - very nice for tourists and locals too.
Northbridge Piazza  is the "fun centre" with a huge movie screen, entertainment, etc. I love those lit up seats.

After dinner we walked around in search of a quiet place to have a coffee - instead we walked past the Mustang Bar in 46 Lake St. and upon hearing some lively music we walked in and stayed for about half an hour watching couples dancing  the "Swing" to the sounds of a live band.
What fun, and those couples were such a joy to watch. I wish I was that "rubbery"!
It was a late night and added to it a couple of glasses of wine (we're not used to drinking!) and we were exhausted by midnight, so it was time to go home!

On Saturday we had a bit of a sleep in, and then just potted around the garden - temperatures in the 30's which is a bit too high for Spring!

Twiggy found a new spot for a nap

More poppies are coming up - this photo taken on Saturday
On Sunday we had arranged to meet some friends for coffee at around midday and then go and see the new house they are building next to the Canning River.
They've built a little jetty and I had taken old bread to fee the many ducks and other birds that live around the area.
This duck family with 5 ducklings were the first to pop by as soon as they saw people around the jetty. The ducklings were just too cute and fluffy! Later more ducks came by but Father Duck kept on driving them off the area.
We had a fun and relaxing time!

In the evening our son and daughter in law came to dinner to "inaugurate" the new BBQ, given by them to my husband on his birthday in September.

And so went our weekend - a lot of fun!
Hope you also had a great weekend wherever you are in the world.

  1. Awww, those flowers are plain awesome, especially in that combination!
I so want to dine out Indian, too, but can´t "make" Ingo go! Love those lit up seats, awww. So sad I can´t dance, have no feeling for rhythm.
Hehe, the Esky! We have two here, too! Certainly useless... We used them to send books and tools to Germany back then, in 1995 and 1999.
And awww, the poppies! And the duckies, too, so sweet.
It was sunny, but with an awful cold wind today. Brrrr.

    1. Hi Iris, you spotted the esky, we mainly use this big one when we have lunches or dinners for a crowd and put the drinks in there with ice.
I love Indian food, we could always go to an Indian restaurant next time you visit!

  2. Those flowers look awesome, and you seem to have lots of choices when you go out - we live in a rural area, so have a choice of two! Inidian i have to cook at home, but luckily I enjoy that.

    1. Thanks Gill, of course living in a big city helps with choice, we don't go out much either...
but I'm glad we went, it's always lovely to see different things.

  3. Dearest Sami,
That sounds like a lot was going on in your life.
We too had a very busy week but also, like you, a happy time with friends who came to dinner at our home. Lots of work but so well worth doing.
Love your poppies and Twiggy in her new spot.
The baby ducks are always so fun to watch.
Wishing you a happy new week.

    1. Thanks Mariette, Twiggy loves being outside when we are in the garden, and of course any little box is heaven for her! The ducklings were really sweet! Have a wonderful week too.

  4. That looks like a great weekend, a bit of everything is always fun.

  5. Sounds like a lovely weekend! I really enjoy the swing night at the Mustang - although you're more likely to catch me dancing there on their Tuesday Salsa night!

  6. Hi Aimee, at one stage I was learning Salsa and the group would go to Mustang's on Tuesday, but because my husband was working away, I was a bit scared to go and then came home late at night on my own...who knows I would have met you there!

  7. I need a weekend like this soon Sami, I'm pretty much over painting and gardening :) Enjoyed reading about your night in North bridge, so fun!

    1. Thanks Grace, once in a while we need a fun weekend! We've been working hard on the house and garden most weekends for the past two months...

  8. Beautiful colours on the top shot. Little ducks are so cute!

    1. I agree Jose, that flower garden looks beautiful! Yes, ducklings are just so precious!

  9. Sounds like you had a great weekend Sami! We had dinner at that Indian restaurant a few months back and really enjoyed it. Love your duckling photos - how lovely for your friends to live so near the river!

    1. Hi Wendy, I quite enjoy Indian food. Yes my friends are quite lucky to be building near the river.

  10. Cats do sleep anywhere!!
    What a lovely weekend!

I would love to hear from you, please leave a comment.
