Various murals I spotted around the city of Aveiro, when I visited Portugal in March 2023.

Aveiro, lies on the edge of Ria de Aveiro, a saltwater lagoon farmed for its seaweed, salt and fish. This mural shows the salt harvesting, women with baskets of fish on their heads and the "moliceiro", the traditional boat of the Ria (estuary) similar to the Venetian gondolas.

Monthly Wrap-Up July & signs

Joining Tom with signs which you can check here.

Sat and Sunday 1st and 2nd - I started the month prepping and painting our camper trailer on this sunny weekend.

Also bought chestnuts and roasted them and baked cookies with persimmons that were given to us. Jose doesn't like the texture and I couldn't eat that many, so I had to find a way to use the pulp. They were quite good.

Friday 7th - Picked up one of my now retired work colleague and drove south to Rockingham to meet up with the other colleague who lives even further south in Mandurah. It's always nice to catch up with them every 2 months or so.

Sat 8th - Dinner at Yuka Japanese restaurant with 2 of the Doctors and one of my colleagues from the clinic and their partners.

Friday 14th - One of the Community harvest organizers invited the group to dinner at The Attfield 39 Bar & Bistro so we could celebrate our achievements.

Not much chance to talk though, as karaoke started, but we had fun joining in the singing.

Sat 15th - I finished painting the camper van, just need to buy some floor tiles to put on the floor.

Sunday 16th - Attended a 3rd birthday party at a park near my work place.

Friday 21st - Spent my day off work looking for sofas - went to 5 different shops, took lots of photos, measurements, etc. That night Jose and I chose 3 of the sofas that would better suit our lounge and budget.

Sat 22nd - Visited the two shops where those chosen sofas were and settled on a gray leather 2 1/5 seater recliner, which had a great price due to the end of the financial year sales.  It was delivered at the beginning of August and I'll show you the new looking lounge in my next wrap-up.

Looking for sofas...

Sunday 23rd - went to the movies to watch "Barbie", with Jose and one of the Drs from the clinic and a friend of hers, plus their husbands. It was a funny movie, great dialogue, can't believe how well it has done in the box-office in such a short time.

Friday 28th - I hosted a melt and pour soap workshop at cahrs for our community harvest group with 12 paying attendees. It went well and they all enjoyed the workshop and went home with 1kg of soaps (about 10 to 12).

Sat 29th -  We decided we needed a few jobs done around the house, as our first and last renovation was done 15 years ago shortly after we bought our 70's funky house.

The kitchen island (our small appliance garage) which we made out of an Ikea cupboard, and Jose added wheels and a stainless steel counter always had an mdf back which I never liked, so the best thing was to add a wooden dowel backing and paint it.

The laundry cupboards had cheaper doors compared to the glossy doors in the kitchen, and they had yellowed. So I prepped the units with a shellac primer, lightly sanded, painted in a blue kitchen paint, but painted the top doors in glossy white.

I've now ordered a wooden counter from a wood merchant which is a little bit wider and will also have the same length on either side of the unit.

The laundry is now ready!

Thanks, Sami

This mural was painted on the back garden of my cousin's house, the one that had the Whils plate, which I posted 2 weeks ago.

It was painted by a local friend of her's and is a cute addition to a pretty garden.
