A mural I saw in St Julian's, when we visited Malta in June 2026.
St Julian's is next to the town where we were staying - Sliema - and is known as the entertainment capital of Malta, with its busy nightlife.
One evening we took a bus and went for after dinner drinks and a walk around the lively town.
As we walked around I couldn't help noticing a mural in the distance and had to get closer to take photos :)
The mural was painted in a 6 storey high building, at 69 St George's Road, by local artist Micallef Grimaud, aka "Twitch", as per signature in the last photo.

I do like the different native birds, he must've had to get up high on a scaffold to paint them, have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteI presume so too, it's a very big mural. Thanks Amy.
DeleteReally wonderful dear Sami, we are back from a four week travel to Greece. I had a look to find some murals....and I found some that I will present in my posts in the future. The ones that I have posted now are much less artwork than these ones you posted .
ReplyDeleteHave a good time
Violetta
Hope you had a great time in Greece Violetta.
DeleteSami, I love the colors and designs of these bigger than life murals. Thanks for hosting and I wish you wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom, have a great week too.
DeleteWow, size is everything. That looks rather like our kookaburra in the mural.
ReplyDeleteYes the bird looks quite similar to the kookaburra, thanks Andrew.
DeleteWow - is that illuminated or did you do a magic trick? They are very, very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd such a difference, too! Imagine this as windowless, grey wall - how depressing. Yippee to the artist!
I think there must have been a spotlight aimed at the mural. That's what caught my attention
Delete😀 Thanks Iris.
Oh WOW, dear Sami, that mural featuring a stork, a kingfisher, and (I believe) a hawfinch is truly magnificent and stunning! When we visited Malta back in the day (about 18 years ago), there weren't any murals like that there, as far as I know... I’d love to visit that lovely island again sometime, anyway!
ReplyDeleteAll the best from Austria 🤗

I didn't see that many recent murals there. The ones at the local beach were quite damaged by the salt air/water, so don't know when they were painted. Thanks Traude.
DeleteAwesome bird murals, Amazing works.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for hosting.
