Thanks SamiOn the corner of Eight Avenue and Wheatley Crescent in the suburb of Maylands, across from the train station is Mrs S Cafe , at 178 Whatley Crescent, is this lovely lady, who was painted by Perth artist, Daek William in 2018.
It's a tribute to Mrs S Harpon, who had a tea shop and confectioners at the nearby 202 Whatley Crescent in 1925.
On Maylands main street, 203 Guildford Road - is the Salvos op-shop (thrift store) which is covered in hearts.
Another one from the many murals seen in Maylands - no street or artist name.
And today 11th March is my Dad's 91st birthday! Last year I was able to go and celebrate his 90th with the family in Portugal, but I'm planning to celebrate my daughter's 40th on the 8th March 2025, somewhere in Europe, and hopefully my Dad's 92nd.
...congratulation on your father's long life.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom.
DeleteGreat to be able to celebrate so many birthdays with your family. We have a relative’s 95th coming up next month out-of-town; we don’t try to get family together every year, at this point every five years works best!
ReplyDeleteThe very stylized woman in the mural reminds me of what some of the AI generators are producing these days.
Thanks for hosting the weekly art-around-the-world post!
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae.
DeleteBlessings to Dad, to your daughter, and to you dear friend. Aloha

DeleteI think we photographed a very large mural in Maylands. A giraffe? I need to go back to the photos and check. I like the way Mrs Harpon has been painted.
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a giraffe there, coming soon :) Thanks Andrew

DeleteThank you for the story behind the Tea-mural! Grace & Pat took me there, but we had no idea of the reason of this mural. Missed the heart one, too.

What a coincidence. Hope you saw lots of murals there too. Thanks Iris. Dad was a handsome man, he's too thin now I think, but still singing, which is nice.
