More murals painted by local artist Joao Figueiredo (aka Pompeu) in August 2025, in the municipality of Currelos, right next to the local church

It portrays elements from the traditional legend/myth of Lady Branca of Vilhena and the castle associated with the story. (short version of the story below).

""Next to the church of Currelos there was a castle where Lady Branca lived happily with her husband until the day she gave birth to twins.

As she was faithful to her husband she didn't believe that the twins would be sired by the same dad. In panic and worried about public humiliation, she thought about getting rid of the second born twin.

She asked a servant she trusted to get rid of the baby and bring her his tongue as proof. On the way the servant finds his Master and tells him everything. He cuts the tongue of a dog and asks the servant to give it to his wife. Then he asked a mill worker to bring up the child and dress him the same as his twin brother, having provided the sustenance for the baby.

One day the child came with his "adopted" father to the fair of the Holy Spirit where they meet up with Lady Branca, the husband and the other twin. The nobleman comments to the mill worker that his child looked so similar to his own son that he should be brought up in the castle as their son!

The past came to haunt Lady Branca, and that night after having dinner together, she put the child to bed with his brother.

Late that night, Lady Branca wandered to the windows of the palace, the husband facing the fireplace asks her a question, and when there is no reply he goes to the opened window and sees her lifeless body sprawled on the floor.

The legend says: that in nights of full moon the ghost of Lady Branca accompanied by the devil in the shape of a black dog, wandering along the margins of the Mondego River, suffering over the place where she ordered the son to disappear.""

This next mural was at the park adjacent to the Aristides Sousa Mendes museum in municipality of Cabanas de Viriato.

It looks like kids posing for a school sports photo. Don't know who the artist was, but thought it was cute.
