Qatar - A fun day out in the Gulf waters

Friday 27th Dec -  Friday and Saturday are the weekend in Qatar, with shopping centres, etc usually opening after lunchtime.

Thomas, who was on leave, and 4 of his colleagues who had the day off, had hired a yacht with a skipper and helper, to take us out into the Gulf waters in front of the Pearl Island.

With our picnic baskets and cooler boxes, about 16 of us departed from one of the marinas to the sound of Karina's music choice.                                                                The very fancy yacht had a spa (which was sadly empty) and they had a rubber chute to be used later to slide into the water, a gas barbecue, undercounter fridge....

Then came the sunset behind the city centre which was spectacular.

It was time to turn back to port... and then home.

At home, after a shower and change of clothes we went back to Pearl Island to have dinner at a Mexican restaurant - Isla - at One Porto Arabia Tower.

It was a farewell dinner to Thomas's dad, brother and niece who would be flying out of Doha early the next morning.

                

We sat outdoors, with great views over the colourful marina, there was a live Mexican band, service was good, the food was tasty but I'm not a great fan of Mexican food...

After dinner we walked a little around the marina and then Thomas called 2 Ubers to take us home.

Back home we farewelled Thomas's family as Thomas would be taking them to the airport at about 5am...

It was a fabulous day, we had great fun in the boat!
