Monday Mural - Mondego River

I've just returned home after 4 weeks away in Portugal and France and my mural today was the first mural I photographed in Portugal.

Our family group of 16 stayed for 4 days at a country estate owned by an English couple - Quinta da Lontra - in the centre of Portugal, to celebrate the christening of our grandson.

As I walked around the estate towards the Mondego river I came across this mural painted in one of the buildings that is used as an art retreat - it depicts the sun setting over the river, the  huge boulders surrounding the river and a canoe.

We want to hear all about your holidays, don't we folks?!!
The stuff you want to tell us, of course!!
I am sure you had a wonderful time in Portugal and France. The food in both countries is great! It seems I am always thinking about food... well! : )

Looking forward to your next posts.

    1. Thanks Catarina, I'll start posting soon, I've taken close to 4000 photos, just started sorting them out...
Oh yes, the food is just amazing! It's one of the things I miss in Australia - the variety of dishes is awesome.

  4. Welcome back and yips, I agree with Catarina :-)
You really do have a large family, it must be wonderful. I´ve only 3 aunts, two uncles and there is no contact to the families, so basically I only have my always busy brother.
    Nice mural.

    1. Thanks Iris. We do have a large family and luckily we keep in touch even though we are spread all over the world (except Asia) lol.
We even keep in touch with second and third cousins...

  6. So thrilled you are home again. I've missed you.

That's a really unique mural. I'm not sure if the "wild" grasses around the building add to or detract from the mural. Regardless, it is certainly note worthy.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth, it's nice to be missed.
It was all very dry due to lack of rain and I suppose a bit wild around that building as it wasn't being used at the time.

  7. Dearest Sami,
What a clever idea for gathering with 16 family members for 4 days to catch up. WISH our family would ever have done that...
But for sure was the 4 week period sufficient for visiting with family and indulging. Meanwhile capturing special murals in your birth country.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  9. Welcome back Sami, what a wonderful mural. I am looking forward to hearing about your time in France. Next year we are having a bit of a re-union with my brother and wife and my daughter and her husband. We are going to spend a week on the midi in a boat.

    1. Thanks Gill. Our trip to France was just a short one, we spent longer in Portugal. That's exciting to plan a trip on a boat.

  10. Welcome home Sami! What a fantastic idea it was to rent a country estate, it would have given you time to spend the maximum amount of time together being all in the one spot. Looking forward to hearing about your travels.. I bet you weren't expecting it to be so chilly.. we'll be complaining about the heat soon enough :)

    1. Thanks Grace, quite true I thought I would be arriving to more Springy weather. It was lucky I found this place so most of the family stayed together.

  11. Sounds like you had a beautiful holiday.
And what a lovely find! Those reflections look beautiful. So does that pop of colour that the boat adds to the landscape.
Have a good week, Sami. :)
