Cats and Birds in the garden

It's been a very wet and stormy Saturday and the rain will be here for a few more days.
I'm posting a few photos of my cats taken last weekend and of birds that visit our garden too.

Twiggy very relaxed sleeping in the sun
Shelley sitting on a garden chair in the patio
Fluffy our ginger male catching some sun-rays and behind him is Twiggy again

We have doves visiting and nesting in our lemon tree, and because I couldn't find a big enough tree house I made one by joining two coir plant baskets and cutting a small entrance for them.
What do you think? I still haven't noticed if the doves have been using it, I hope they do!

A new bird house for the doves. Behind is the bird seed I buy them and which they rapidly devour
A shy little dove peaking through the leaves
doves on the fence

The Honeysuckers also visit our garden
Fluffy keeps an eye on the Magpies in the driveway
Have a great and relaxing weekend!

  1. What a fantastic idea with the basket liners Sami, hope the birds take you up on the housing offer :)

  2. I hope so too Grace, at least it gives them a bit more protection since doves' nests are so flimsy!
If they like the house I'll make a few more.

    1. I also like the magpies, they're just dangerous when it's breeding season (August to November) and then they strike people!

  5. So nice to see your cats, they look so cute and fluffy They always love sunshine, our Sofietje always streches out on the windowsill between the plantpots, we call it her solarium!

  6. To me, there is nothing that lowers blood pressure more than observing a cat sleeping in teh sun! I love these pictures! Well fed, very content little friends!

    1. I agree, cats are really helpful in lowering your blood pressure for real. My cats are a bit overfed, Shelley is obese, I need to get her to exercise, but not easy...

  7. Very clever idea for a bird house - hope the doves come to stay soon, although with the cats lazying in the sun maybe it is just a quick spot of lunch then move on quickly!!

    1. Thanks Wren. I've only seen one of cats try to climb the tree next to the lemon tree, but then we cut the branches, so they can't get across. The doves have been around my garden for about 2 years now and I keep my cats indoors when I'm not around. Certainly don't want to have my lovely doves eaten...
