Named after the 70's British model Twiggy, when she was born she was the tiniest of the 8, but was the first to get out of the "nest", and we thought she would be fearless.
In March 2014 she lost her Mom (Mommy) to whom she was very close to, and just a couple of weeks later she was attacked by a cat or dog and her belly was ripped open. Since then think she became frightened, hiding every time someone knocks on the door, if friends visit or even odd noises in the house.
She hates being picked up, meowing in panic if we do that.
During the day she's very wary, and won't even sit with us, so we can either find her either sleeping on our bed, or hiding somewhere, but at night she seems to mellow and relax and becomes more lovable, sitting near us if we're watching tv in the lounge, or jumping into bed when we go to sleep, usually sleeping curled up next to me.

And she used to love her confined spaces or unusual places to sleep as you can see by the photos 😆

Apparently tortoiseshell cats are said to bring good luck, and are sometimes called "money cats" in the United States.
Not sure if our two tortoishells brought us luck, but I think they are lucky to have found us to care for them for sure. But we love them too of course.

Twiggy is beautiful. Poor baby to be attacked like that. I hope over the years she can slowly regain her confidence. Maybe picking her up still causes her pain from internal scar tissue and that is why she dislikes it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit. I hadn't thought of that, maybe that is a reason.
DeleteAww! sad story she LQQKS a beautiful cat I hope she grows more confidence again :-)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post and photos have a kittytastic weekend :-)
Thanks for your visit Steve, have a lovely weekend too.
DeleteShe looks very sweet and happy. She has a lovely home with you and many companions.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mariette, she's certainly spoiled by us.
DeleteNice Sami, and I was expecting something bad, but instead turned out very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew :) Have a lovely weekend.
DeleteThe poor dear. She is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteThanks William.
DeleteFantastic
ReplyDeleteThanks Padre.
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteTwiggy is a sweet little kitty. Sad that she lost the Mommy she loved to cuddle with.
And how frightening that dog attack must have been!
Glad she mended and lived a reasonable life since then.
Yesterday the Shower Glass got newly installed after having several issues with it, but all our kitties hid somewhere outside, for hours since they left! Only the eldest Barty is more at ease around people, he napped on the guest bed.
Hugs,
Mariette
Thanks Mariette. Oh your cats also don't like strangers, it's strange that at least Twiggy and Fluffy will disappear when our son, wife and kids visit every 2 weeks even though he lived here until about 6 years ago. I assume it's because of the wife and now babies that make them scared.

DeleteMy childhood dog was attacked by two other dogs we had. The mama dog had got him pretty good in the neck. He managed to recover greatly and I can't tell if that affected him after the fact. I remember he was deeply scared as the blood on his neck was still fresh. He was always a quiet and timid dog but he never acted differently to any of us.
ReplyDeleteThat's sad, glad he was ok. Twiggy's Mom was attacked by two bull terriers belonging to a former neighbour, even though there were no external signs, not even blood, her internal injuries were bad, so we had to put her down :(
DeleteWhat a sweet beautiful girl! Sweet Twiggy, we're sorry you were hurt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cat Mom. It was a worrying time but she's great now.
DeleteI'm sorry you were traumatized Twiggy. I'm glad you're okay now. You're most cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥
Thank you Sandee, greetings to all the cats and cat lovers out there.
DeleteTwiggy is beautiful. I am glad she survived the attack.
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteI was worried this was going to be a sad tale, but was THRILLED when I read she's doing well, even after all that trauma she experienced early in her life. Yes, it's so good that you are in her life and I'm sure she is thrilled, too. Great and uplifting post, Sami.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth. She endured a lot, but is very healthy now. She is a sweet girl :)
DeleteOh, she went through a lot of sad and scary things! Great she has you to care for her and great to hear she at least regained some trust.
ReplyDeleteHaving a pet sure has a lot to do with responsibility.
Poor Twiggy, she did suffer a lot a few years ago. Thanks Iris
DeleteLindas as gatas são uns animais que eu adoro também tenho uma.

A sua gata pretinha e muito bonita :) Bom fim de semana.
DeleteHello Sami, Poor kitty, I am sorry she was hurt and is so scared now. It is good she is recovering, if only she regains all her trust. Pretty cats and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Eileen.
DeleteTwiggy is one beautiful girl! She reminds me of our Tribe member, LIly, who is a very timid girl and accepts love only on her terms but she is a sweetie.
ReplyDeletePurrs & Head Bonks,
Tucker
Thanks Tucker, Twiggy is very loved and spoiled.
DeleteOs seus gatinhos são uma graça. Beijinho e bom fim-de-semana.
ReplyDeleteObrigada Sandra :)
DeleteTwiggy is adorable Sami, she had a tough time there for a while. I think all your cats are incredibly lucky to have you as Mom 💛
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace. I think they are indeed lucky :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful cat mom you are! Such a joy to see that things are looking better for Terrific Twiggy! Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteThank you RO. She's healthy and fat, lol, not fit!
DeleteI just love all the sweet photographs you've shared here.
ReplyDeleteTwiggy is a little darling.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan :)
DeleteTwiggy is obviously a cat with 9 lives, she has very pretty markings. No wonder that she is still afraid, that was a huge attack poor little thing. I would be sneezing all night with dogs sleeping on me!
ReplyDeleteWren x
Thanks Wren. A troubled past indeed, but as you say some cats have 9 lives :)
DeleteShe is so beautiful. SO beautiful. And what a good home she landed in. I can see why she's nervous after her encounter at whatever tore her belly. And of course, liking confined, safe spaces where she won't easily be invaded. I'm glad she becomes cozier at night, more relaxed. And it seems she gets on well with the others, so that's good. I'm so glad you shared this. Her story both breaks my heart and makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie. She makes me smile too specially when she cozies up to me at night.
