Signs - Popcorn and dress code

As I'd mentioned before, our daughter Karina came from the Philippines over Easter, to spend 10 days with us.
On Monday 29th April, we both went to the movies to watch - "Swimming with Men", a British feel good movie inspired by a true story. We really enjoyed it!

These signs were printed on the popcorn boxes, I thought they were hilarious 😁.

On Tuesday 30th, Karina and I had dinner at Riverton Bar and Grill, next to my local shopping, and we had a laugh at the sign outside the entrance.

I wonder if Ugg boots are as popular in your countries as they are in Australia? It always amazes me to see young ladies wearing Ugg boots with shorts! Aren't they meant to keep your feet warm?

Karina flew out at 2am this Wednesday, so I had to drop her at the Airport at 11pm, but luckily I only worked the pm shift from 1 o'clock, so I had a sleep in this morning.

More signs at Signs, signs.

  1. Funny signs.
As botas Uggs nĂŁo sĂŁo autorizadas?

  4. Those popcorn box signs were HILARIOUS. Still laughing.

I had NO idea what an Ugg boot was, so went to the internet. They sell a LOT of different styles. I don't think I would ever wear them and not with shorts. But at least now I know what Ugg boots look like (grin)!!!

    1. I like my warm slippers in winter (at home), but I don't think I would wear Ugg boots indoor or outdoors either.
The signs were funny, I had a good laugh too.

  6. That is funny about the cremation. Our major ugg boot shop closed down and I haven't seen anyone wearing them for a long time.

    1. Thanks Andrew. They are probably a bit out of fashion maybe, haven't seen as many young women wearing them :)

  8. Dearest Sami,
Lovely for having had your daughter for ten (short !) days.
Oh, those signs are indeed hilarious and I guess there also is a spelling error: unclean or untidy 'foorwear'...
Yes, anyone wearing boots in the warmer season looks very odd to me! It's just not done...
That movie must have been hilarious to watch!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

Ugg boots! You may not believe it but some wear these ugly things here and think they are super-cool...

Sad that Karina had to leave already, time flies!

Oh, that sounds like a fun movie, those are real men!
And oh, that British accent!!! :-)

  12. Yes those Uggs boots are supposed for warm feet I think too.

    1. Yes they should warm up your feet in winter, not in summer, like they use here :)

  14. Ugg boots with short shorts were a "thing" on the campus at University of California in Santa Barbara in 2003. I was also confused, but a neighbor explained to me that it was a surfer habit to warm up your feet after the cold Pacific waves had chilled them -- I think this started with Australian surfers, as Uggs is an Australian company. I think it was really about looking cool, but whatever.

Uggs fads seem to come and go sort of the way that skirt lengths used to move up and down (or maybe still do?) A few years ago, my granddaughters really wanted them, and wore them a lot, but now they have moved on. That's all I know about Uggs.

Surprising that a cremation joke can be so funny and not in particularly bad taste!

    1. I agree, the Ugg boots were quite fashionable years ago, although I still see young girls wearing them, but not in great numbers.
The jokes were funny, thanks Mae.

  17. Funny signs! I like how Ugg boots are among the forbidden dress code items. They were a thing a few years ago, but I haven't seen them around for a while. Good, I say!
