Monday Mural - Native Birds

While visiting the Bull Creek Shopping Centre for last week's mural, as I walked around to where I had left my car, I came across another mural painted in November 2016 by Fieldey and Year 11 design class students from Melville Senior High School.

The 30mt x 2,5 mt (98,4ft x 8,20ft) mural took 3 days to paint and features local bird species such as the crow, ibis and galah which were painted by Fieldey, while the students and two art teachers - Ali Blackwell and Jenna Antoniolli contributed to the patterning.

Fieldey was born in New Zealand in 1980, moved to Norfolk Island (a tiny Australian island in the South Pacific ocean) as a young child and has been residing in Perth since 2007, having started her art career as a surfboard artist.

Signs - Kiss & Go

Sign at the local High School - the Kiss & Go sign, which is common in front of schools, railway stations and even airports.
This means you can only stop your car briefly to drop-off or pick up a passenger and then drive off.

Grace alerted me to a facebook publication that a mural was being painted at the Stockland Bull Creek Shopping Centre, just 10 min down the road from me.

When I visited on Sunday 20th 2019, the artist, Kerise Delcoure, was still at work on the 50 meter wall (164ft) she nicknamed "The beast", which she's been painting during the last 2 weeks of school holidays.
I spoke to her briefly, and she mentioned she was a teacher (Visual arts I presume) and she had been painting the mural with the help of volunteers.
Only half the mural is being painted now and the other half will be done during the December school holidays, so I'll have to remember to go back and take photos of the finished mural.
Her compositions are nature based with emphasis on Western Australian native animals and plants.

Signs - At the Boat and Caravan Show

On Sunday 13th we joined another couple and drove to the suburb of Mandurah, about 60km (37miles) south from us, where we visited the Mandurah Boat, Caravan, 4WD & Camping Show.
None of us wanted to buy anything, but it's always fun to look and it was a nice day out.

Sign at the eating area
A cool name of a cute bean shaped caravan
An ABBA fan maybe?
A great advert for this 4WD :)

Another great name for a boat

And as we walked back to the car I came across this number plate - "travelled OZ (Australia)".

Monday Mural - Marseille Faces III

Random murals seen in Marseille, during our visit to my daughter's in-laws in September 2017.
We stayed at an Airbnb in the vibrant bohemian quarter of Cours Julien, and as well as a lot of ugly graffiti, there is a lot of street art in the little lanes, shopfronts, garage doors, etc.

Signs - Boat names II

A few, or a lot of photos with boat names, of boats moored at the Royal Perth Yacht Club and at Rottnest Island.
You can read about our trip to the island on the 29th September here.

What would you name your boat? I'm not much of a "boatie" but if I could afford to buy a nice yacht I would probably name it "Sunshine".
