Although we only spent 1 1/2 days in Braunschweig, I still managed to spot some murals.
Looking for a restaurant near the River Oker, (probably at Gieselerwall) that turned out to be closed I came across this mural that depicts some of Braunschweig monuments. You can see them in my previous post.
☺Iris might be able to identify others?
Henry the Lion, Rathaus (town hall) tower, the Cathedral, Gewandhaus (cloth merchant's hall) |
Not sure what the containers between Henry and the Braunschweig coat of arms are? |
NLB is a bank |
On our wandering around town I saw this in an entrance to a parking lot behind the building.
Another one in a parking lot not far from the Oker river... wish I had taken a photo of the street for Iris.
Holding up the city |
Happy Rizzi House - located in the old quarter of Magniviertel , by New York pop artist James Rizzi, with facades covered in cartoon characters, stars and hearts could also be considered a mural I think :)
Great to hear about your visit with Iris, and to see all the local buildings (earlier post) and murals that you found.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
best... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thanks Mae. Always nice to meet up with other bloggers, in this case someone we knew already.
Delete...you sure hit the Motherload. It's great that you met Iris. Thanks for hosting the party.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, a lot of murals this time :)
DeleteI know Iris was looking forward to your visit, and I think you found some amazing murals in the short time you were in Braunschweig. Thanks for sharing and hosting, Sami.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth. It was lovely seeing Iris again and yes, a lot of murals for just a day and a half in Braunschweig!
DeleteAre the containers maybe full of wine perhaps? Liking all the murals and how the buildings are colourful.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if there is wine in the region, but maybe. Thanks Iris
DeleteSorry Sami I forgot to add my link, just done it now
DeleteSo many beautiful murals, even covering entire buildings! Well done today. And thank you for hosting us
ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia :)
DeleteRizzi House is particularly stunning. I love it!
ReplyDeleteRizzi House, although it looks a bit out of place among all the old buildings, brings some vibrancy and modernity to the city. Thanks Kwarkito
DeleteI like the muted colours in the first mural. Could they be beer barrels near the lion? I've seen Rizzi House somewhere before. It makes me think of childish Gaudi architecture.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, beer barrels could be answer Andrew :) Yes Rizzi house is reminiscent of Gaudi.
DeleteA place with so many beautiful murals. I like the ones with Henry the Lion and the ones with cartoon characters.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy :)
DeleteYes, we were wondering about the containers, too. Think they are the artist´s tools?
ReplyDeleteSad Henry was tagged...
I sadly have no idea where the parking lot is. Not having a car anymore is an excuse?
I gave my company car away in 2018!!
Yes, to the Happy Rizzie House :-)
Oh, and Henry is busy there. Cute.
Thanks Iris. Sadly forgot to take a photo of street names where I found the murals.
DeleteQuando os alemães querem até fazem umas coisa bestiais.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
Obrigada Pedro
DeleteTruly amazing murals, great photos.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead
Thanks Rupam. Enjoy the rest of the week
DeleteFantastic mural's and that house is extra ordinary. Great mural show over there.
ReplyDeleteThanks SC. Very unusual building, but surely stands out!
DeleteYou have seen a lot of Murals!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to find quite a few murals as well. Thanks Marianne
DeleteVery cool! My father and grandparents were born there, but I haven't been there for over 40 years
ReplyDeleteWow really, how interesting. One day you should visit your ancestor's birth place, I'm sure you will like Braunschweig, and you're not too far away either.
DeleteEstão espectaculares.
ReplyDeleteGostei.
Um abraço e boa semana.

Obrigada Francisco. Continuacao de boa semana.
DeleteI am quite sure, Sami, that when you next visit your optometrist she will discover that you have an extra fovea, unusual in its construction, and it will be discovered that it zeroes in on murals! Be sure to publish the results!
ReplyDeleteLOL, you made me laugh David. My eyes are certainly well trained by now to spot murals, even the ones my family doesn't even see.
DeleteI love the shots of Rizzi House. What a sight.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat, it's quite an unusual building :)
DeleteDid you get to see Iris? I love that first one especially -- beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteYes, we met up twice. It's in my previous post about Braunschweig :)
DeleteImpressive!
ReplyDeleteThanks William
DeleteI’m a little late but thank you for hosting.
