Monday Mural - Louis and Reija

I love murals and street art. If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you.  Just follow the Linky steps below.  Once you start looking you will find murals everywhere.  The "Monday Mural" meme goes live on Monday at 12,01AM, Perth,Western Australian time. Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters. Looking forward to your mural finds this week.  Thanks, Sami.

Painted by the talented local artist Jerome Davenport (Ketones 6000) on the back wall of the Astor Theatre in the northern suburb of Mount Lawley.

This mural was part of the @nomoreblankwalls Street Art Festival  in Mount Lawley, that ran from the 8th to 16th of April this year. The mural honours the great Louis Armstrong and Perth vocalist Reija Lee.

Three days before the start of the festival Jerome became a Dad, so it was a very busy week for him.

  1. ...Reija has never hit my radar screen, but Louis Armstrong sure has. This is a beautifully painted mural. Thanks Sami for sharing and hosting the party.

    1. Thanks Tom. I had to google her too, although I knew her music when I heard it, just the name wasn't familiar.

  2. What a strange combination of musical artists. Louis Armstrong lived from 1901-1971, so he was almost surely deceased before the other subject of the mural was even born. And it doesn't appear that their music has much in common. Though he did once do a tour of Australia in 1964.

    So very strange.

    1. What a pity Marianne. Here they are being painted all the time and there are so many old ones I still haven't photographed.
