Monday Mural - Saltwater country

I love murals and street art. If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you.  Just follow the Linky steps below.  Once you start looking you will find murals everywhere.  The "Monday Mural" meme goes live on Monday at 12,01AM, Perth, Western Australian time. Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters. Looking forward to your mural finds this week.  Thanks, Sami.

Painted in June 2021 at the offices of the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) building on the corner of Bennett and Cavenagh streets in Darwin's central business district.

The 30mt long wall titled Saltwater Country (Gunimidjina Gwala Daraniki,) shows a crocodile, a kite and a magpie goose.

Painted by Larrakia artists Denise Quall and her brother Tibby Quall.

  3. Great mural! I love the vivid colors and the high contrast of the figures to the background. It's very icy and snowy here so I am not going out on mural quests at the moment, but I did do a Valentine Day post for tomorrow. Have a good one.

  14. It is quite wonderful. I am always reminded of the similarity in the way we have viewed indigenous art here in North America. There are representations of North American first nations everywhere, yet the people have been treated in the most appalling manner. Must be a common theme throughout history and a legacy of white colonialism. It continues to this day. I saw a slogan the other day which said that it is not the savages who live on the land, the savages are the ones who destroy it. How true.

    1. Well said David. Yes the indigenous people of North America and Australia weren't very well treated.
