The 30mt long wall titled Saltwater Country (Gunimidjina Gwala Daraniki,) shows a crocodile, a kite and a magpie goose.
Painted by Larrakia artists Denise Quall and her brother Tibby Quall.

DeleteGreat mural! I love the vivid colors and the high contrast of the figures to the background. It's very icy and snowy here so I am not going out on mural quests at the moment, but I did do a Valentine Day post for tomorrow. Have a good one.

DeleteIt is quite wonderful. I am always reminded of the similarity in the way we have viewed indigenous art here in North America. There are representations of North American first nations everywhere, yet the people have been treated in the most appalling manner. Must be a common theme throughout history and a legacy of white colonialism. It continues to this day. I saw a slogan the other day which said that it is not the savages who live on the land, the savages are the ones who destroy it. How true.
ReplyDeleteWell said David. Yes the indigenous people of North America and Australia weren't very well treated.
DeleteSo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Thanks you Rupam :)
