Painted in January 2020, by Argentinian artist Martin Ron, this 11 meter tall mural titled "Oryx Going Ahead" in Building 40 at Katara Cultural Village in Doha, featuring a giant oryx, Qatar's national animal, with the Doha skyline in the background and a map of Qatar on the oryx's forehead, representing pride and the nation's spirit.
...Oryx looks so life like! Sami, thanks for sharing it and hosting the party. Enjoy your new week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, have a great week too.
DeleteThat is a very impressive mural. It looks like the oryx could just keep on walking right out of that wall.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon. It does feel as if he's on the go.
DeleteI’ve seen an oryx in the zoo. So many fascinating animals!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I've seen the Gemsbok, an antelope that belongs to the same family as the oryx. Thanks Mae

DeleteOh WOW, dear Sami! We saw these beautiful animals in Namibia – I didn't know they also live in Qatar and are even Qatar's national animal! The depiction on the mural perfectly captures the powerful beauty of these animals.
ReplyDeleteToday, in my final world trip review, you'll get two mural collages – the first shows murals from New Zealand / Whitianga, Coromandel Peninsula, and the other, which I've linked here, two famous murals from New York by Eduardo Kobra.
All the best from Austria, Traude

Thanks Traude. The oryx is native to Africa and Middle East, but I didn't know either they were Qatar's national animal. I love Kobra's murals, he's so talented.
Merci :)
