I saw this mural in Cologne, near one of the underground stations.
A mural showing Cologne's mayor Henriette Reker, one of the very few women in German local politics. I found it very colourful, hence photographed it!
Other murals in Cologne:
Seen at Bonn/Cologne Airport.
Great collection of murals today. I especially like the one with the street and houses.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the Monday Murals!
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Thank you Mae :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Roentare :)
DeleteI tried to google who she was but all I learnt was Cologne is really Koln. Why do we do this?? Is it really that hard for English speakers to learn a few words??!! I'm amazed I'm so old and so stupid at the same time....
ReplyDeleteI just updated the post - the mural is of Cologne's mayor, one of the few women in German local politics. The mural says "Good for Cologne (Koln). Thanks Lydia.
DeleteThe first is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteThanks William, it is a colourful one :)
DeleteThe first, second, and last were my favorite. I didn't really understand the rest.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth, they are the nicest ones too :)
DeleteImagine my surprise when I returned to see what I had missed and found I had NOT published the comment I left early today. My body is going and now so is my mind.
ReplyDeleteIt seems your comment was published Elizabeth :)
DeleteThe portrait could almost be a young Angela Merkel, except she is smiling.
ReplyDeleteThe two up from the last is cute.
Thanks Andrew. Hope you're having a great time overseas.
DeleteTodos muito bonitos.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
Obrigada Pedro, boa semana
DeleteHenriette Reker?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is her, I've just updated the post, thank you Ria
DeleteHere's another beautiful, varied and colourful series. I really like the fresco at the airport and also the naive fresco with the tank going out the frame. At last we're back to being prehistoric men painting on the walls of our homes. I wish you a good week
ReplyDeleteThank you Kwarkito. Enjoy your week too :)

DeleteSo many great murals, love the flowers the most! I think it was 2002, our Dad had just passed and I stayed with my Bro in Cologne (in one room!!! Flat sharing on top!) , where he studied. Not one mural!! I think 2008 was the last time I was there for further training. No mural. We, as in "Germany" sneak into the world, it seems... yippeee
ReplyDeleteIt appears murals are now more popular in Germany, Berlin certainly had many...maybe some cities have more than others. Thanks Iris
DeleteMurals certainly do brighten up a city. Some of these seem to approximate graffiti. I guess it's a find line to differentiate the two forms,
ReplyDeleteSome of these are certainly borderline between graffiti and murals. Thanks David.
DeleteA lot of murals to see!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marianne.
DeleteYou found quite a few murals in Cologne. I have only been there once and it was in 1985. Such a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. It's a lovely city

ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia for participating in the party :)
DeleteI love the variety. The floral one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the wall’s repainted if the mayor loses the next election.
That would be a big job again :) Thanks Susan
