Knowing that I'm always on the search for murals, my daughter Karina took me to one of Manila's modern districts - Bonifacio Global City or BGC as it is also know.
Karina had visited the area just after she moved to the Philippines in September 2018, when her partner had to go to Manila for a conference.
They stayed in an hotel here and while he was at the conference she wandered around, found lots of murals, and knew that when we visited I would love to go to this area too.
On the corner of 32nd Street and 2nd Avenue this was the first mural we saw as the taxi driver dropped us.
Unfortunately I couldn't find the artists name or when it was painted, and haven't been able to find this mural online.
A photo of a previous mural in this space painted in 2015 by Californian artist Kristen Farr is below.
It's part of the ArtBGC festival organized by the Bonifacio Arts Foundation, which started in 2015.
If you like murals or have a mural you'd like to post, this meme is for you;
Just follow the Linky steps below. Be sure to link back to this blog and visit your fellow posters. Looking forward to your mural finds this week. Thanks, Sami.
While searching for details about this mural I found that on the same corner wall there was previous mural with geometrical shapes painted by American artist Kristen Farr (below: photo from the web)
This kind of artwork certainly makes a city more attractive.
ReplyDeleteCertainly does David, and BGC had loads of murals which was marvelous.
DeleteI wonder what the images symbolize! A tower atop the globe, a giraffe, a zebra...

The kids could be imagining space travel or just travel in general :) Thanks Mae.

ReplyDeleteThanks Cloudia :)
DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteThat was sweet from your daughter to check this out and to guide you back to the same spot.

DeletePretty mural
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam.
DeleteI love that your daughter is in tune with your mural hunting Sami ☺ this one is lovely, such a big endeavour! Now going to read all about your trip, although hoping to catch up soon and hear all about it xox
ReplyDeleteThanks Grace. Yes, when she finds murals she tells me about them. Will contact you soon, once I get photos from the wedding.
DeleteI think I like the second one (newer mural) better. I like how the children are peeking behind the curtain to an imaginary world of make believe.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth, it's quite pretty.
DeleteUma estrutura feia, inestética, ganhou vida com a arte urbana que ali foi feita.
ReplyDeleteBoa semana
Bem verdade Pedro, ficou bem mais alegre. Uma boa semana.
DeleteI wonder what the first one is about, with a space rocket taking off and creatures of the earth about. I like it.
ReplyDeleteCan't figure out either Andrew, maybe kids dreaming of traveling?
DeleteThis mural truly has it all!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter´s caring for you, origami birds, music, curious children, rocket, rainbow... one can get lost in it, beautiful!
Thanks Iris, I thought it was very cute too and loved the colours used.
DeleteI love the one with the kids so much because of the colors. So pretty and magical! Hugs...RO
