Monday Mural - knitting granny

Mural painted on the walls of the old hospital in the town of Cascais (Portugal).
The old lady appears to be knitting a scarf of sea waves and saying "Nao quero aqui macacadas" which means "No monkey business here".
The other wall has a man fishing from a van.
Painted by Portuguese artist Mario Belem, at Rua Nova de Alfarrobeira nr. 16, for Muraliza 2014 (a street art initiative in Cascais).

The van has a sign that says "Conta-me historias" (tell me stories) and on the window "Volto ja" (I'll be back soon)

On the third wall a poem about "the village and the beach", is signed by Youth, so may not have been painted by the same muralist.

  3. I love the continuity of the two sides. It's incredible how the knitting turns into the sea by design. You have a great eye.

  4. Love the bottle of wine the fisherman has - and are those bait in the pot?
    Cute idea for a mural.

  6. The Granny is knitting a river, so this great looking mural must be an allegory. Wonderful find. The artist is quite talented.

    1. Yes, it's a pity I don't know what the story behind that mural is. Thanks for commenting.

  10. That's a whole load of pink paint - what fun to see the Knitting Granny. I'm at the Problogger Conference on the Gold Coast next year we'll have to co-ordinate to be here together!

  11. Energy. Whimsy. Color. This one has it all! It's delightful! Reminds me that it's often grandma and grandpa who have the best fantasy stories of them all - and many times, they're true!
