When I was in Fremantle recently I again photographed this mural, which I posted a few years ago. I thought it was time to revisit as I consider it to be one of the best murals in Perth.
It is 78mt long (256feet) and is painted on the exterior of a furniture and homewares shop East West Design at South Terrace in South Fremantle.
This extensive mural was commissioned by the owners of the shop, and was painted by the talented artist Graeme Miles Richards, a New Zealander who resides in Perth, and it took him over 7 months to paint.
The various shopfront designs reflect the eclectic mix of wares they sell - from Asia, Africa and Europe, and this mural was paint.
I took over 30 photos of this beauty, so much to see... and here are a few of them.

DeleteDearest Sami,
ReplyDeleteWOW, Graeme Miles Richards is a TRUE artist!
Read that he also painted for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Excellent photos and being at such a lengthy mural, one can indeed shoot many photos.
Thanks for sharing them!
Hugs,
Mariette
Thanks Mariette, plenty to see with such a huge mural for sure.

ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks Jan :)
DeleteAmazing detail. That is one mural that you would not want to see fade away and be painted over.
ReplyDeleteFor sure Andrew, I hope it's kept in tip top condition.
DeleteI'm visiting my friend Sally who has an iPad. I think I got the right image and it shows up because I can't see it on this device. I was so impressed with the beauty of this mural that must have gone on for at least a block. I love the pastels the artist used. It looks very vintage to me. I am glad you photographed it again, because this is the firs time I've seen it. Hope your week goes great, dear Sami.
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping over and managing to participate even though you're having internet problems Elizabeth.
DeleteThe mural covers the whole block.
Wow, definitely worth revisiting, Sami! So much detail and enticing trompe l'oeil

DeleteThat is gorgeous, and the scale of it so impressive! How lovely for the whole neighbourhood. 7 months to paint that was quite some project.

Thanks Wren, quite a long time but I assume with so much detail and the size of it, he would need all that time :)
